Sandip Sen and Aarohi Sen start well, but then dither and lose the plot. They try to include from blockchain to MNREGA, and how India's policy paralysis has hitherto tackled the ensuing tectonic shifts.
The book packs in a lot, but yet covers, ironically only a little. For example, in areas where Sandip has written news articles and definitely has insider insights, he shines, but in other areas, his insights only scratch the surface.
Credit to both that the book still shows an accurate picture of a country - that moves one step forward and then two steps sideways.
It gives a brief picture of how Indian economy is working. It distinguish the past of the Indian economy in three phases and also explains how it has resulted in what is going on in the economy today. Eventhough he specified that he would critic Modi at the start of the book, he seems to be in the right most of the time. I don't agree with all the arguments that he is making. A good book to get to know about what's going on in the economy.
