Manifesto for Islamic Reform
Let's reject all other religious teachings besides the Quran, and let's dedicate the system to God alone. Let's stand against marginal elements among us, oppressive puppet regimes, brutal wars, occupations, and clandestine operations. Let's topple the oppressive monarchs, and elect our own leaders so that we can have peace, liberty and justice on our own volition. Let's fight not with bullets or bombs, but with intelligence and wisdom. Let's give up superstitions and medieval culture, and start engaging in scientific enterprise. Let's stop subjugating our mothers, sisters, daughters and wives; let's give them back their dignity, equal rights, liberty, and identity. Let's unite our voices and prayers with genuine Christians, Buddhists, Jews, Agnostics, anyone who seeks justice and peace, rather than injustice and war. Let's organize local and international conferences to discuss this issue. We may invite religious scholars of every sect or cult, but we should not let them run them, since our experience shows that they have not done a good job in leading. Let's acknowledge the truth so that the truth will set us free.

Whether you agree or not, certain to challenge many dogmas and make you think hard. The author is certainly a brave and independent thinker.

I found myself in a lot of disagreement with the content of this book, however I should admit the author made a few good points, too (e.g more engagement on intellectual discourses and scientific enterprises among the nowadays muslims societies, and also his critique to the West and Americans) But alas, I don't really recommend people to read this book, especially if you don't have the basic knowledge in Islam.

It's a good book to read especially for the traditional Muslims. This book will give you a general idea of what Quranism is and why some people refuse to believe in any of the hadiths. I read this book when I started studying deeply about Islam.
Muslims make a lot of attempts to defend Sahih hadiths, and they do all their mental gymnastics to somehow defend the credibility and honor of the Sahih hadiths, but considering how much misogyny, hatred, violence, homophobia, illogical things are present in the "sahih" hadiths, I don't think any sane educated Muslim wouldn't want to be a hadith skeptic or a complete hadith rejector.
As a non-Muslim or even as a Muslim (this book can look blasphemous to many Muslims), you won't understand this book if you don't have basic knowledge of Islam and how Hadiths were gathered and preserved after the death of Muhammad, how different Islamic schools of thought (Madahib) developed and what is the Muslim science of grading (grades like mutawatir, sahih, za'ef, fabricated, etc based on Isnaad and matn) hadiths.
Muslims usually cherry-pick the good stuff from Quran and Hadiths to teach their kids but when kids grow, ask questions and they read the controversial hadiths which are just as authentic as the sahih hadiths, they either get stuck in a conservative Wahhabi mindset like the Taliban, become more liberal (Quranist or Hadith-skeptic, etc.), or they leave Islam.
Of course, religion can't completely disappear, so I think being a peaceful Quranist or a Hadith Skeptic Muslim is a lot better than being a traditional Muslim and micromanaging people's lives in the name of God.
