It’s not the act. It’s the details…

Incredibly tight-lipped and painfully private, Anthony Phoenix has been known to make lesser women cry. Luckily, Summer Staite is by no means a lesser woman. It’s her job to know his type—rich, handsome, famous and used to getting what he wants. A dangerous, seductive combination. Luckily for her it’s not the man she’s after. It’s his story. A story that’ll earn her the respect she craves—one they tell her is impossible to get. “They” have no idea how far she’ll go.

With his freight-train vocals, dark intensity and brooding good looks, Anthony is well aware he presents a challenge to the brazen columnist from Stripped Magazine. Yet she intrigues him more than he cares to admit. Beneath her soft, girl-next-door façade, she drips with the kind of sensuality that makes him edgy. High. And completely stupid. Stupid enough to let her get into the act…and under his skin.

This was a very quick read. Don't tell but, uh, I finished this today while attending meetings at work. I was sleepy, okay? Don't worry, I gave the requisite head-nodding and monosyllabic answers.

With each rock star romance I read, I'm noticing a movement away from the Alphahole and toward the sensitive, extremely troubled man. It is either one extreme or the other. In this book, the hero Anthony was not like that, he was a little of both and it was a welcome change.

Neither Anthony or Summer acted in ways I expected them too. I enjoyed thinking Summer was going to act like a bitch one minute and then do something else nice; I liked how Anthony could have been an ass but stopped and took a moment to think. It is rare that a character can surprise me, but Anthony and Summer did.

I did wish there had been a more in depth glimpse into their backgrounds. We caught a brief one of Anthony's and his real life outside of music, but not so much of Summer's.

Despite the predictable climax in the middle, I enjoyed this story. More and more I am looking for character driven stories rather than action or sexual ones. Not always, mind you, but more and more. ;) And the characters in Rockstar were interesting enough to keep me turning the page and to leave an impression after I had finished the book.

"What did you think?" - that one question above this box is a little intimidating. What did I think? What do I think? Well... I didn't love this book. I didn't hate it either. Kind of think it was meh. That's what I think.

Seriously though, there were too many factual wrongs with this one, it made my head hurt. I've worked in the publishing industry. Magazine publishing. And there is just no way this story is plausible. I was a music journalist, I know this world - and this story just pissed me off with its inaccuracies.

Then there's the characters. I hated her, and didn't like him. I really did want to like these characters. I did. But they were petty and stupid, and their characteristics needed some fleshing out.

The author had a good idea for a story, she just didn't execute it right. I guess there wasn't a lot of time spent doing any kind of research for this one... I've said it before, and I'll probably say it again; write what you know, and know what you write. Really hate it when authors do a half-assed job.

It was short, but I knew that going in. I just didn't see how the connection happened. The characters are pining away for eachother, and I feel like I must have missed a few chapters. It had potential, but nothing made me root for the characters, or even feel like I got to know them. The writing was a bit too......I guess "eloquent" or "lyrical" for this type of story. It just didn't work for me. The second half was way better than the first though. 2.5 stars. Sorry, I hate giving a negative review.

It was short, about 100 pages or so...and just ok. I probably should have given it 2 stars but i'm a sucker for rockstars. The characters were ok and Anthony though i felt his turmoil not sure if he was as likable as i hoped. Summer was also pretty flat besides the "love" scenes, i liked the last scene too lol. I think if she explored and expanded this book it would have had more depth into the characters and the story. But it wasn't bad at all. A quick read to get you through a boring day.

Nice, quick read....I really loved reading her article and seeing her private memories on display, it gave me a glimpse into their night together I wish the book had been longer to develop the characters more so when they fell in love I believed it more than just a quick end because that's what the reader was hoping or expected.

This was realllly short. It was good, sweet, and had drama. But the story was over so fast it had me doing a double take to make sure I'd accidentally skipped ahead....

Wish it would have been free because it wasn't worth the money.

This was terrible. I don't usually write that but this has no character development, no real plot and very little conflict. I never knew who these characters are, what motivated them, why they were not content. and there was a conclusion that came out of nowhere. SKIP THIS ONE.

I liked this book. It was short and I would have liked a little more depth but made for a sexy little read!

A great, emotional novella; bad boy rocker falls for journalist trying to get a story out of him. Just wish it was longer. A quick, delightful read

I really enjoyed this story. My only complaint is that I wished it was longer and we knew more of there story.

So much potential to be a great story but it kind of fell flat. There was too much missing, so much emotion and nothing to back it up. I just wished there was more to it.
