This book was entertaining. I liked how the story was progressing along with the two siblings stories starting to come together. The alternate world’s story also finally started showing how it would tie into the main story line. And then the whole novel abruptly ended. I realize this is the first book in a series but the loose ends could have been tied together better.
I’m still looking forward to the other books in the series though and will read them when they come out. Just felt like this could use a bit more final editing.

I enjoyed the story so far, and found the shifts in narration to see the perspective from other's points of view useful. Though the sudden disappearance of professor Henry without any explanation was quite a leap to process, the story does seem to be coming together. I look forward to reading more.

Good start for a series.
This story follows the lives of three young adults Candise and Blake in Austin Texas and Ren in the Pearl Nation. Quite interesting it makes you want to find out more and when their lives will entwine.

I'm rounding up for my Rating.
Baldron does a couple things very well. It's common for authors to give characters the same personality/voice; they might disagree on something but they kinda sound the same (referring to other books I've read). That is not the case with him.
It's not as "Action packed" as a lot of fantasy books; but action is there. For the scenes that are more action packed, there could probably be more description to make it feel a little bit more high stakes; there's definitely a sense of high stakes; but I think there could be a little more.
It takes from different perspectives from different characters between different worlds. I found myself not caring as much about the modern earth world, it might just be me but I think the characters here have been done before and while I'm ok with that; I just find the idea of "I'm the only one who see's" scifi tropes uninteresting. The other character in another world I found a little interesting. This character (Ren) has few common tropes, but they're ones that I think most people typically like in stories. An underdog who might be a prodigy with a mentor who's one of the tops of their field. A lot of the most popular fantasies have some version of that and it works for a reason; it's interesting because his "mentor" doesn't really seem like he fits the old-man wizard/professor idea which is in many so it's a little different in that regard. (I haven't read the rest of the books, so there's a chance I get proven wrong about all this.
I like his writing style. I'm not sure if I will read the rest of this series right away, but I am interested in seeing other stories from this author, especially knowing that this contains his first novel (well, I think it contains his first novel).
