Ok, you can judge me, but I do like a little scandal, and Hollywood definitely has that in copious amounts. I was already familiar with all of these stories, and Parish does a decent job covering the material, although each read as if it were originally done for some quickie magazine series, especially due to the repetitive material, and the writing is somewhat pedestrian. That being said, it is a decent entry to this sordid world, perhaps best enjoyed by a novice just getting acquainted with th ...more

I love reading books about Hollywood and stars. Even better are "scandalous" books. This book however, which claims to be a mix of both was disappointing. The majority of the stories were boring and I felt focused on too much of the stars early life and not enough on the crimes or scandals.

Strictly under the category of brain candy, this is a really fun book for those of us who still have a fascination with the world of Hollywood. While most of the stories are very well known, the book's exploration of many different facits of the Hollywood system remain interesting. Of special note is the huge difference between the big studios of the Golden Years and their PR departments working diligently to preserve their stars images versus the latter portion of the book whereby everything be ...more

James Robert Parish has written enough books about Hollywood to fill a library.

He knows just about everything there is to know about vintage movies and movie stars. Not only are his books well researched and superb reference works, but they are also entertaining reading.

In this work, Parish explores Hollywood's underside, giving readers the inside scoop on some of Hollywood's juiciest scandals. He talks about the Errol Flynn rape case, Clark Gable and Loretta Young's love child, the Robert Blake

An up-to-date (well, as much as it can be in this day and age) tabloidesque read in which you can read about the trials, tribulations & tragedies since the time of Silent Films. Not bad, but the thing about books like these are there's a new scandal every day, so unless it comes out with an updated version every year, there's always going to be something missing. Not bad "passing-the-time-until-something-else-happens" kind of book. :)

A quick, entertaining read. Not as scandalous as I had hoped, but worth the read.

And for goodness sake, can someone please fix the spelling error in the title!

I found this at the beach house we rented over the 4th and read it in one day. Not many "juicy" scandals like I had hoped (not very scandalous)...

Good nighttime reading when you want something a little less cerebral but compelling nonetheless.

What a quick read and very interesting! I read a lot about famous celebrities and their dirty deeds. And I bought it for 50 pesos. Great bargain!
