Honestly, it's a good book for people just getting started with working out, it would be helpful to have a video to go along with it and really show you the exercises and proper form. Some of the advice was definitely fitness trend and outdated. The exercise routines are pretty solid and he helps explain why form and endurance are so important, nothing revolutionary though and the 'Hollywood' lable to everything is hokey. I think his cardio suggestions get a little extreme if you're not a person training for anything, but the emphasis on interval training is key to rapid results. I think Zim hits on some key, important factors to health and fitness, I can't say I learned anything new or revolutionary, but I pretty much just bought the book because I was interested in his workout regimen.
Eh. Dated, and has some weird advice. First, he takes basic weight lifting moves and adds the word Hollywood to it in an attempt to make it sound cooler (eg "Hollywood rows,"). High reps, low weight for fear of "bulking up" is an outdated and disproven trend. Also, is it really necessary to stretch an individual muscle immediately after working it? Like, do a set, stretch, do next stretch? Seems unnecessary if you're properly warming and stretching at the end.
I’m a week and a half into the six-week program and can already see and feel a difference. I finished reading the book, though. I’m giving it 4 stars because there’s no real help for a vegan in the diet portion of the program. I know how to make the modifications, but I shouldn’t have to; the information should’ve been included.
That said, I feel like this is a good overall workout and diet program that can be repeated as often as necessary to achieve your desired results. I’m not going to have a Hollywood body in six weeks, but I can in probably 6 months. It’s doable. Also, it’s one of the least expensive ways to get in shape.
I appreciate Steve Zim's approach to fitness. He makes me want to show up for myself and outdo my past, not my neighbor.
Reading this book helped me heal my relationship with food and create a routine to maintain my physical and mental health. I learned how to create a routine and diet that works for me, as well as tips such as using a skateboard to begin building the core muscles and the benefit of low weights/high reps.
This is like a solid plan for anyone looking to get fit in a short time! Steve Zim’s approach seems realistic and Testo Prime tailored to different body types. The combination of diet, cardio, and targeted exercises makes it appealing for those aiming for lasting results.
this is Steve's first book. he has some updated books and advice online but it is a good place to start. he gives some easy to follow nutrition and exercise routines. I'm supper glad I read it and it gave me the motivation to get started were I haven't been in a while.
I read through the book and I am currently going through the program. Lots of great info. And this book is a great way to start exercising and develop excellent health habits that can last a lifetime. The key is to get started and stay consistent.
Much common sense advice, but really appreciate his focus on symmetry and lengthening instead of generic exercises. Kindle page numbers didn't align with references, but not unusual for kindle.
