This is a lovely compilation of folk-tales from Eastern Europe, all of which feature a dragon as hero’s adversary. The stories are old-school delightful, very true to the oral tradition. The narrator’s voice is somehow preserved in spite of (what I would imagine to be difficult) translation. I actually found myself chuckling at several of the stories. I can totally imagine the narrator lounging with his pipe by a fireside tavern or on a stoop surrounded by children with shining faces (and their parents), all of them listening with rapt attention. Simply delightful.

A delightful collection
I love dragons and, although I usually read epic fantasy, I was very interested to read some of the traditional tales about them. This is a delightful, well put together collection of short stories, evidence of this author's thorough research and efforts to preserve some of the old fables from Europe: glimpses of the old 'by the fire' storytelling. I am looking forward to reading 'A Study of Dragons' by this author which I'm sure will be fascinating. Recommended reading for any fan of dragons or fables in general.

A compilation of Eastern European folk tales from thousands of years ago, this book is unique as far as I'm aware. The tales or stories are ancient fantasy, probably made up and recounted verbally by those with the imagination to dream up these little gems. Fortunately these stories have been preserved and now translated and published in the current digital age. Definitely niche-reading but good.

I absolutely love these books! I'm a fan of folklore and myths so I find these fascinating. Of course I also love dragons. I'll continue to grab all of Ronesa Aveela's works as long as she puts them out!
