Bo and Peter are just like any other friends. They can play basketball, swim, and play just like any other friends. They only difference is that one of them is in a wheel chair. This doesn't stop them from being best friends.

I gave this book four stars because it has a great lesson. It teaches that disabilities should not keep kids from being friends. While looking at the illustrations, I noticed that other children were smiling when they looked at Bo and Peter. This is helpful and supports the lesson. Rather than featuring the two main characters on their own having fun, they are surrounded by happy peers.

My son reports Bo broke his leg in a previous book, that's why he was in a wheel chair. Bo continues to play everything, even though he's in a wheel chair. What ever the back story, it seems that Peter doesn't mind that Bo is in a wheel chair, and that they do all the regular things. I imagine in the background parents who help facilitate things, like building sand castles on the beach. It's nicely drawn too. I like the theme of friendship. My son in the beginning of first grade read this book, only needing help on a few words.

Scholastic level C book. 16 pages, very simple. The illustrations make this book. It features best friends, one in a wheelchair, although it is not mentioned in the text but good to see in the picture. A good book to model acceptance and let children ask questions about wheelchairs (if they have any).
