I don't know if I'm spoiled by being pretty selective with the comics I read or that I just don't really like superhero comics that much anymore, but I was not thrilled with this. When I was younger, Spidey was my favorite super hero, that is until Venom came along. I still really like a lot of the back and forth between the two and I think Venom's a really interesting character. I just can't get behind the constant reviewing of the plot in Spider-Man's thought bubbles, lazily written expository dialogue, and all around boring story-telling. The art is classic though and I loved to look at it, despite its sometimes overly cartoonish simplicity.
In sum, I get that this is some classic stuff, but I didn't find it nearly as exciting as when I was a kid.
Another solid entry of Venom stories from the late 80's to early 90's. I love the style of artwork, the stories were solid, and while we saw just how scary Venom is, we also saw parts that showed his goofball side, his full character. A quick fun read, and a book I'm happy to have in my collection.
I remember getting this for my birthday in 1994 - I had just turned 9. I believe this was purchased at "Star Realm" in LaVista, Nebraska - that place no longer exists!
Venom is back and wants revenge on Spiderman. This shows how insane but strangely honourable Venom is. Stopping to save a child in the middle of a fight with Spiderman. The Punisher storyline is also well handled and shows that he will only kill criminals, no matter what. A good read.
I have a soft spot for this one because it contains my first issue from my first ever subscription. I had a couple random comics before this but mostly knew Spider-Man from the cartoons so I had no idea what was going on at the time.
