Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.

Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

In Princess and the Frog students recognize disciplinary methods. This story develops, defines, and helps to define children teaching techniques on how to defend themselves when under attack by undesirables better known as others who may not have their best interest at heart. In the princess and the frog children learn to take responsibility for his or her actions and it is important to develop a child’s character in such matter. If their behavior is wrong; make sure it gets explained why they did it and it is important for children to know that everyone makes mistakes. The mistake isn’t as important as the way your kid reacts to it. Forever and ever treat your kid with respect and know that you can never love you child too much! Keep your word and read this story daily until it is memorized.

Plot Summary: Tiana starts out as an ordinary girl. Her best friend Charlotte, who is a princess, invites her to the ball with the prince. Little does she know that the prince is an imposter. The real prince had been turned into a frog by the evil witch doctor. As the fairy tales go, a princess must kiss the frog to turn him into a prince. Prince Naveen sees Tiana and mistakes her for a princess. Their kiss turns her into a frog. They have to go on a long journey to try to find a way to be changed back into humans. They meet serveral new friends along the way, like Louis. He is an alligator who helps them find Momma Odie. Legend has it that she can change them back. Time is running out. Will they turn back in time?

Personal Response: I think this book is great for kids. It shows that not everything is what it seems. Sometimes you have to put in hard work to get what you want. Not everything just comes to you. Things take time to happen, but can be worth it in the end. I read this book to Emilee. She says her favorite part is when Tiana kisses the prince and they turn into frogs. She like it because Tiana is her favorite character.

Characterization: Prince Naveen starts out as a stuck up prince. He only cared for himself. When he gets Tiana into trouble and the two are stuck together, she teaches him how to be humble. She shows him that he is more capable than he thinks. He believes that he could never fall in love with someone who is not rich. Prince Naveen ends up loving Tiana for who she is, not what she has.

Recommendations: This is a princess book, so I would recommend it to young girls. The story is for all ages, but this specific book is directed for ages 1-5. I think parents would enjoy reading it to their daughters. There is also a movie that corresponds with it, so it gives them even more to do and learn about.

The Princess and the Frog written by Walt Disney was a great story to continue reading. Before reading this book I analyzed the front cover, this certain book is a limited collector's edition. It is also a read-aloud storybook which brings up to my mind that this a book that I could easily read to my class as a read- aloud book. Also the images in the book are very similar to the movie that was made from this book, that is another element that I noticed. Behind this book I noticed that it wasn't a typical book that give you a summary of what the book would be about, instead it showed all the Walt Disney's collector books. For example, Bolt, Chicken Little, Cinderella, The Jungle Book2, Lilo and Stitch, The Little Mermaid, Snow White and a few more that were showed on the back. The actual storyline was quite interesting and typical, it was magical just like the other fairytales. The whole idea of this story is that the princess kisses the frog then becomes a frog herself. Till the end they have a happily after. Also one thing that I love about this book is how the princess has ambition, how she is goal oriented. Not only do I relate to that but this can show a class of students that dreams become reality in the end if you work hard for them

Tiana for most of her life wanted to open a restaurant and she worked hard to get to her goal. The restaurant was the dream of her and her father, but he had passed away years ago. When Prince Naveen came into town to enjoy jazz music of New Orleans he was tricked by a witch doctor and was turned into a frog. The prince went to Tiana and ask her to kiss him so he can return to be human again and offered her a reward, which she thought the money could go towards the restuarant. But, after she kissed him she turned into a frog too. The story relied on reads knowing the movie because it lacked a lot of information and detail; also at times the text was hard to read because the black text was in a dark backgroud. I would rcommend this book for early readers K through 2nd grade. Published 2009.

Typical Disney Princess fare. Our girls really enjoyed the story and, of course, the amazing illustrations. I know they will want to see this movie.

They go on a quest to find a woman who can fix their problem but along the way, they encounter multiple obstacles but also find the true meaning of love and friendship. Truly a great love story with different fairy tale creatures to keep the story entertaining.
Prompt: What sub-genre of folk literature is the selected Children's or Adolescent Literature text (e.g., myth, legend, fable, noodlehead story, etc.)? How do you know?
This book is a fairy tale filled with animated animals and a love story between two people turned into frogs. This story is inspired by the German fairy tale The Frog Prince. The two people are turned into frogs by magic and a true kiss sets them free.

An extremely cute and instructive tale about a princess and a frog who is much more than what is found beneath the surface. It teaches you to see behind things and to look not only at the outside but also at the inside. Most of the time, treasures of intrinsic value change your life and not what everyone can see. Deep and real feelings are in the deep. Not only is the tale worth reading, but the book as well, as it is an equally lovely, cute story.

I remember when I saw the movie for Princess and the Frog and how much I loved it. This made me very excited for the book. I think I enjoyed the book more than the movie. Just the way the book is laid out is very enjoyable. I love the goofiness of this book and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good princess story.

This book is about a princess that kisses frog and becomes a frog herself. They must work together to become human again.

I rated this book 5/5 because I love the book and the movie that has the same story line. It is a story of true love of a princess.

I loved the movie as a kid, so whenever I saw a princess and the frog book at Barnes and Nobles I always had to get it. I loved when my parents read me it every night before bed, although I may have only looked at the pictures.

I always knew the basis of the Princess and the frog, but this is the first time I’ve actually read the story and I was surprised at how in depth the tale is and how the ‘princess kissing a frog’ actually cane about. The pictures are magnificent and the kids seemed to quite enjoy it.

The princess👸 and the frog🐸 is a beautiful Disney movie and book. My favorite character is Tiana, obviously, because she has a hard-working
attitude and is confident about getting her own restaurant like her poor Daddy👨‍👩‍👧 ever wanted even though he had what he needed, Love💕💝💞.

I have seen the movie, but I wanted to read the book so that I have a different perspective about this adorable story. I love that Tiana doesn't change for the prince (besides physically), she actually changes him and makes him a better person.
