Little Cat
We love little cat! Poor little cat feels left out when dog plays with a new friend. Soon they both learn that sharing and caring are some of the best parts of being friends.

Little Cat Feels Left Out by Dori Durbin
I'm a sucker for a book about cats so this is a natural pick for me.
Little Cat has a great friend in Dog, her companion in her home. But it seems like Dog is happy with other friends which makes Little Cat feel lonely and left out. It hurts her feelings and she has to learn how to process them. She also starts to learn the power of having other friends.
This book is very sweet and is a great way to introduce kids to the complex feelings of being left out in an easy to understand way. The story is also engaging to show that we also don't have to leave people out either, which can be a powerful lesson depending on what you want to pull from this story. Add in the wonderful images and the engaging way it tells the story through animals and you've got a hit.
This is such a sweet book and I highly recommend it.
Four out of five stars.

It can be hard when your best friend finds another friend. Suddenly the twosome is now a threesome and someone usually feels left out. I totally remember how this feels as there were three of us cousins all the same age growing up and it seemed one of us always felt left out.
Little Cat and Dog are the best of friends until one day, Little Cat sees Dog having a blast with his stuffed friend, Mr. Fuzzby. She even hears Dog say, “Mr. Fuzzby, you’re my best friend!” This crushes Little Cat.
While Dog is taking a nap with Mr. Fuzzby, Little Cat decides to give Mr. Fuzzby a try and play with him too and see what all the excitement is about. Little Cat realizes that Mr. Fuzzby can be a great friend to her too. Now she just has to convince Dog that they can all be friends.
I love how this realistic situation is simplified for kids to understand. Kids will be able to relate to Little Cat and the feeling of being left out. Kids will also learn strategies that they can take back to their playgroups for how to make sure everyone feels like they can play and have fun together.
For a self-taught illustrator, I found the illustrations to be engaging and show emotions of sadness and joy. The large words on the pages will be fun for early readers to join in and read along.
Every kid will be able to see themselves in Little Cat or in Dog and will want to try harder to be a better friend.

We were thrilled to hear of another Little Cat book! Little Cat Needs Space has been in regular rotation for our family and we loved reading about Little Cat's next adventure. We love the communication of feelings within each story. Reading with a two and five year old led to good conversation, and like Little Cat Needs Space, the title has quickly become a regular phrase to communicate feelings.

Great fun with a GREAT message
My grandchildren lived this book. They even started to play with the stuffed animals at my house again after reading it. The illustrations are lovely and soothing. We are keeping this book down low on a shelf in our living room so the children can grab it everytime they are here.

My 6 year old connected to little cat. She has felt left put on the playground and it made her smile that little cat and dog figured out how to make everyone happy. I bought a few copies, on is being donated to her kindergarten teacher and we will be giving these out as gifts for her friends birthdays.
Such a sweet story to help children understand friendship.

What’s so special?
Little cat loves playing with dog. But dog claims that Mr Fuzzby is his best friend. How can that be? There’s nothing magical about Mr Fuzzby... so little cat sets out on a mission to find out. I loved how fun and lighthearted this story was! A perfect sequel to Little Cat Needs Space.

Deals with common emotions in young children
This is a precious story with cute illustrations. My six-year-old could really relate, and it gave us the opportunity to discuss her feelings when things like this happen. It deals with the feelings of being left out or excluded, and I would recommend it to any parents of young children.

Dog is Little Cat’s best friend, not Mr.Fuzzby. Is she being left out? What is so special about Mr. Fuzzby? Such a relatable story with captivating illustrations. A wonderful read that entangles rhyming and humor while navigating into emotions of being a friend and feeling left out.

Everyone can relate to little cat
Simple, elegant, but also adorable illustrations. A lovely little story of empathy and learning to understand others, sharing, inclusion. Will read again!

Dori Durbin is a talented author and illustrator. She addresses real-life situations through the Little Cat character. Children most definitely can relate to the antics of the hero in the story. Little Cat is part of a series of books Durbin has penned. Can't wait to read her next adventure.

This is a perfect children’s book that teaches a valuable lesson about friendships. We all have felt left out at times and it’s about how we choose to react to this that leads to how we view friendships and allow them to shape us in the future. Your child will love the whimsical illustrations paired with the perfect story about Little Cat and Dog. You’ll fall in love with both characters and their beloved Mr. Fuzzby.

My 3 year daughter and even my 9 year old daughter LOVED reading this book!!! They were thrilled to be selected to participate in a pre-launch. We did not receive anything for participating other than the chance to pre-read it. It was very easy to read and extremely relatable for both girls. This book even relates to girls my age. The pictures were just as fun to look at as Little Cat needs Space (Which we own!!). We were so happy to have the same characters involved as Little Cat needs Space.
I couldn’t help but look at my daughters as my older one read it too her little sister and think of how COVID has drawn them together. They haven’t had the opportunity to play with friends and go places like they could before. That’s 1/3 of my youngest’s daughter’s life. Could she be feeling more of this than I realize? Could my older one be as well?
This book is not only great for them to read and learn from, it is great for us as parents to learn from and see what we are doing right and can do a little differently right now and in the future.
We can’t wait to see what Dori Durbin writes next!!

Kids will love this cute story with a wonderful message about friendship.
Most children can identify with cat, who feels left out, when his best friend is playing with someone else.
Children learn that they can have more than one friend and that sharing friends with others expands friendship.
Lots of valuable discussion can come from this book.

Author and illustrator, Dori Durbin, did a wonderful job weaving the lesson on how to deal with being left out. Who hasn't been in this situation? Using a stuff toy, very non-threatening as the intruder into Little Cat's friendship, was very clever. The illustrations complemented the story and added much to it.

I absolutely love this book! It is a great sequel to the first Little Cat book, Little Cat Needs Space. Kids can really relate to the feelings in these books. I love the characters and how they work through their problems in positive ways. It isn’t always easy to learn how to navigate friendships, but this book can help open the door to some positive conversations. I hope the author will continue to write about Little Cat and Dog, and even Mr. Fuzzby.

A fun and interesting book!
I liked how the author is both a writer and a self-taught illustrator. I also loved the story behind the book but thought that it could have been better if the author could have given names to dog and little cat instead of calling them dog and cat. Overall, it is a great educational book and the positive lessons behind the story are much needed in today’s world.

Recommend this book!
What a darling way to approach this issue. Lots of kids will feel left out at least sometimes and by helping them find ways to deal with those feeling when young, hopefully will follow them as they get older. Cute illustrations provide a simple way for young children to follow the story themselves.

We can have many friends
The author did a thorough job at demonstrating how people feel when a friend begins to hang out with someone new. The author also showed that it is ok for friends to allow others into their circle.

What a great story to read with kids. Seeing how cat deals with feelings of jealousy will help kids understand a little more about their own feelings. Love the pictures, too.
