Top The Life and Times of The New York Public Library Lions surveys the history of the Lions and the extraordinary affection with which the public has responded to them. With a generous selection of photographs, cartoons, prints, original drawings, and memorabilia and engaging text and sidebars, the book explores the controversy surrounding the Lions' creation, their ongoing popularity, and much more.
I was missing the lions at the New York City Public Library. In fact, I was missing NYC at holiday time. I ordered Susan Larkin's book and love every page. The story of the lions, their sculptor, the New Yorker covers and cartoons featuring the lions, the photos of the lions in hats through the years and the Lions Come To Life chapter have made my holiday this year. It is a pretty and charming book that will be face out on my bookshelves to grin at throughout the year. Thank you Susan.
I only wish it were longer! Rediscovered this book today in a box of many others. This is one of those books you can read through in the space of about fifteen or twenty minutes, but you come back to repeatedly to linger over. Packed with all kinds of photographic and historical gems, it is equal parts informative and entertaining. Worth picking up!
