This book had a lot of potential. A strong female lead, it was based during the English Civil War, as well as the Restoration, but the characters and the plot read like a young adult novel. A lot of the characters were one dimensional, and there really wasn't much growth or development for any of them. I was excited to read this novel, but it fell flat and left me feeling dissatisfied!

First impressions is I don't like the font which has been used and it does annoy me slightly as well as the length of the chapters but that is personal preferrance. I love the story line and it took me half of the first chapter to actually get drawn into this book. I love the way in which Angel is portrayed. I love her character compaired to her sister. I also love Thomas's character I think his peronality is brilliant. I absolutely love the fact its based in Wales (I think). It took me 10 days to get through chapter one because my eyes kept burning and I was in the middle of drawing as well but when I finished the first chapter I was lost for word. I didnt think that the story would go that way and as result of that I couldn't wait to read more.
I was intrigued when we got to hear Merissa's part of the story. But half way though chapter two i just lost the interest in it i loved where merissa went to the old lady but then when alexanders part of the story came in tbh i just didnt want to pick it up and read it and since I was supposed to be on chapter 11 I thought should just take it to the charity shop, but I decided to give anothrt go and a couple of pages after half way thought chapter 2 I couldnt take my eyes off the page. I was comepletely drawn in by the story.
Apart from that chapter I didnt want to pick up the book and when I did it made reading feel like a chore rather than enjoyment. I didnt remember the new characters names passed chapter 2. The story got more into the war side of it which I wouldnt have minded if it started with that but I was more interested to see if anything would have happened to Maressa's husband. Maybe it did further on in the I dont know but I really just didn't enjoy the book in the end.

Really enjoy this one, good strong female lead. I love to get lost in a book and this was perfect for doing that. The charaters are bright and bold as are the places.
