It is so nice to return to Blue Valley, TN and visit with Alice, Franny, Owen, Ben and Luke. Ms. Cambert has written another enjoyable and sweet cozy mystery that has a few twists and highlights family and friendships. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
I’m just so in love with this sweet series. I started with book 1 only a few days ago and I’m already on book 9. My favorite things in books are warmth in the environment, romance, small towns or close knit community and friends/family - these books have it all. Each book can be read individually rather than as a series because the author always introduces everyone right in the beginning and explains how everyone is connected.
In this one, a well-known writing group is in town teaching various seminars to the public. The writer who is known as “a nut” and generally pretty harsh with critique (think of him as the Simon Cowell of the writing world) is bludgeoned to death.
Have no fear though! Alice and her besties are on the case! This series is from Alice’s point of view and her bff’s are Franny and Owen. Franny is Alice’s recent made sister-in-law and Owen is a bit of a mystery who is a man of the world and the reader always finds out something new about his life before moving to Alice’s town 9 years ago. There are also a couple other major characters - Ben who is Alice’s brother and town Police Chief and Luke who is not only the only town’s detective but also Alice’s fiancé.
Not only is there a murder to solve, but there is also a wedding and a baby due. Busy weekend! Lol. Then again, it’s nothing new for Alice and her crew because they always have their hands full with something exciting!
Just what I needed. Another exciting cozy in this series to help lift me up and make me happy! Another murder and a truly wonderful ending. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
I love this series, I can't get enough of the people in Blue Valley. When the town is getting ready for "Midsummer Night's Read Festival" for 3days to have famous authors come for all sorts of activities and everyone is happy and excited to meet their favorite writer. Then when Alice, Granny and Owen started getting back stories of 6 main authors, the skeletons started coming out of their closets. One of the authors came to a breaking point and dampened part of the Festival. Now the big question is Who and Why? There were so many suspects, Luke and Ben had to interview people more than once, so when one of Alice's good friend in a person of interest, that's when the three vet together and ask questions. As Franny's due date nears everyone is watching closely. But they have a puzzle to solve with many moving parts. Now get this book and find out!!!!
Alice has set up another festival in town this summer and is wanting to make it an annual event. She has set up the Mid-Summer Night's Read. An event to bring famous authors to town for workshops, sales of their books, and book signings. Everything is going great until their friend Michael has his interview with one of the nastier poets who has come to town. Micheal leaves almost in tears and very angry at what was told to him. Then shortly after his leaving, the poet is found dead. Alice must now get Owen and Franny together to get the murder solved and their friend off the hook. On top of all of this, Granny is getting married so she has another wedding to prepare for.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was another awesome visit to Blue Valley. This time there was a book-related festival that was Shakespeare-themed. When one of their friends became the person of interest due to his owning the murder weapon, Alice and her friends started investigating. They always managed to find some small tidbit that the police didn't know.
I wasn't sure which of the suspects to stick with, so I just read and found out instead of guessing. After a showdown with the killer, Alice was off with Luke to meet her new niece or nephew. The next day was topped off perfectly with Granny's wedding. This series might have shorter books, but they always cause a good book hangover!
I loved that this wasn't as long of a time jump as previous books in the series. Especially since Franny is pregnant and Alice and Ben's Grandma is getting married!
I really enjoyed the writers convention and what is brought to the town and the Shakespeare angle to everything! I loved how this mystery wove more than just the mystery of a whodunnit into the storyline. It definitely brought some romance, and a little whimsy.
I loved being able to see how everyone was able to come together when it mattered the most.
I'm so excited to see where this series goes next!
Summertime and that means the annual Mid-Summer Night’s Read as Alice is excited to host. As various collections of people will be attire in Shakespearean garments from all sorts of life.
Things end up in murder when an outspoken poet and novelist bites the dust and our amateur sleuth will once again be in action with her gang.
Will they be able to outwit the killer before the killer strikes again? It is another fun page turner.
I really enjoyed this quick, fun read. The characters in this series are developing nicely and the story is well written. I really enjoy all the festivals that go on in this little town. I also appreciate the fact that time moves right along in this series. There are frequent books and it means we're not stuck in one month or season forever. I'll look forward to the next book.
Once again there is a murder in Blue Valley and Alice, Franny, and Owen are right in the thick of things. There are multiple suspects and motives that kept me turning the pages and trying to figure out whodunit. This time the setting was the Mid-Summer Night’s Read--a festival for book lovers to mingle with authors. Franny and Ben have their baby, Granny and Chester get married, and Alice catches the bouquet. Can another wedding be far behind? Looking forward to the next book in the series.
This has very quickly become one of my favorite series. Franny, Alice, Owen & the rest of the characters have become old friends that you check in with each new book. I love the setting and all the festival that they have, a place I would love to visit. I can't wait to read the next book.
This is such a great series. The characters, storyline, and plotting were excellent in this most recent addition. Small town living, friends that are always there for you, and sweet romance all combine to make for an enjoyable read. Definitely five stars worthy.
When these writers all get together it's murder! The gang is all back in this latest installment. There is lots of action. Lots of humor. Some Romance. A murder mystery that kept me guessing. I love these quirky characters and look forward to the next book.
I just can't put these books down, and could easily read them, one after the other, all day long, if I was able to! Be prepared to get hooked on them, once you start them, you have to read them all.
Set in Blue Valley, Tennessee; Alice, Franny and Owen are firm friends, Ben is Alice's brother and Franny's husband, Luke is Alice's boyfriend and Michael has become a friend to the group.
Each book is a standalone mystery which is easily read in a couple of hours. The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.
