Fascinating read, remarkable story of the fight to save the lives of the men on death row most, of whom are poor, black, often illiterate and unable to fight for themselves. The book is written over 20 years ago so the statistics appear quite dated but sadly, the situation has changed very little in that time. If your opinion of the death penalty is undecided this book will change your view, the beginning of the book is a heart breaking story of the death of an innocent man at the hands of the "justice system".
