Natural Charm #1
Creating Merry Hell
The witch is back . . .
Rose loves a good party. It's a perfect opportunity for her to do what she does best-meddle in other people's love lives. Better still, with all the distracting celebrations no one ever suspects there might truly be magic in the air.
As a teenager, Merry Lewis vowed never to fall in love and so far she's managed to stay true to her promise, but that's all about to change when she bites off more than she can chew. As if Merry doesn't have enough on her plate, it isn't long before Jack Campbell-the gorgeous, totally irresistible recipient of the other slice of spell-ridden cake-really starts to complicate things. An incredible week ensues where Jack pushes Merry to her limits and beyond, testing Merry to finally overcome her fears and let herself love.

Emma Wallace
13 books5 followersEmma lives in the north of Scotland surrounded by crazy mutts and a loving family (on second thought, maybe it's the other way around). She has a horrible habit of clicking around the internet in the name of *cough* research, which usually results in at least one new pair of shoes. Hoovering whilst wearing heels helps her think.

Delightful
I loved how these two fought their feelings for each other for so many years, just to give in because of a spell. The heat and desire brewing between them could definitely be felt.

too short
I felt like the ending was too rushed and needed more story. The writing is great just too short and it leaves you wanting more

This story is Not Safe For Work or Any Where Else You Shouldn't Be Blushing!
Well, they must make some hot farmers in the United Kingdom. I still don't know what kind of farm it is. Apparently it's pretty successful and runs itself thus leaving Jack free quite a lot of the time to have sex with Merry. I think I should start running tours for single women to find all these romance book guys.
Parts of one sex scene seem to be missing. It certainly isn't quite right, but I guess I got the idea anyway. There's sex in different semi-public places, and in a house. But the emotional lead up to her initial refusal is too easily done away with when she decides to spend a week playing farmer in the dell. And, the next surprise is even less emotionally supported. It just doesn't add up.
But, as a fantasy goes, lingerie queen and a big burly farmer is interesting. The magic is marginal and more a belief in magic; the placebo effect. Maybe.
The writing is fair, I bet the missing bit of sex is an editing error. The abrupt nature of the story line is possibly due to the format. The sex is explicit.
It's really about the fantasy of the one that got away and what life sex life would be like if he hadn't. What it would be like if you left an island girl and came back the head of a "lingerie empire." You'd be more respected, and able to live down a family past, right? That would leave the door open to get into it with the boy you've been thinking about for however long and find out he's been thinking about you too.
This was okay—a solid meh, although, in thinking about old boyfriends I realized I would never change my great life for some guy I thought was hot when I was a teen.
Did you have one who got away and do you ever wonder what he or she is doing now? Would you trade your life now to try it out?

A fun, naughty little read overall but I did feel at times that we had skipped a transitional scene or two. Merry and Jack were discussing having an affair one minute and they were engaged in bed play the next. It was a little jarring although it didn't make the book unreadable.
This book was a free Kindle download I picked up 04/24/12 for the Why Buy the Cow? reading challenge.

Awesome read if you want a quick reading fix. I have my moods for quick reads and my moods for longer reads mostly according to time. This one was perfect. Great read!!!

Perfectly tawdry and sensuous. This is one I could have sunk my teeth in with a longer story.
