I also bought this book without any expectations. I think I remember seeing other books associated with Lily but never took the time to pick them up. I saw this book several time and on a fluke decide to pick it up. I read the first page, a middle page and the end. I became intrigue and decided to by it. I will say at times Lily kind of got on my nerve with her fickle behavior, but I found myself rooting for she and Dick to get together.

This is a story of a young woman at a turning point in her life. It takes you on her trip to self discovery, along the way she made mis-steps, but I feel she was constantly growing. The men in her life also had some interesting name, that were also a nice play on word. They were Romance, Wealth, Luv and Dick. There was also Donnie aka Patch and Winston. Patch proved that men and woman can simply be friend and Winston was a perfect catch, just not the one for Lily. Lily briefly dated Wealth who just happened to be Winston's twin, but they never had the same chemistry she had with Winston.

Winston did seem to be the perfect catch with his Boris Kodjoe looks and the stable profession of being a doctor, but the sparks just weren't quite right between he and Lily. I truly believe Lily tried to love Winston, but you can't make the heart feel what just isn't there. Dick was like kryptonite to Lily. She lost all sense of reason when it came to this man, although she tried her hard to respect the fact that he was engaged. The heart wants what the heart wants and in this case despite her best efforts, her heart wanted Dick.
There was also the quick scene with Luv a guy from college. Thank GOD she used her head in that situation, because one slip up with him could have definitely spelled Death with a capital A. Just goes to show you can judge a book by its gorgeous package, and to think he would have slept with her without divulging his condition (there are a lot of people out there like that).

I will say the book was a bit long with 552 pages, but I think it helped the reader to truly understand who Lily really was. I do wish the author had speny a little more time allowing the reader to experience the love that I am sure that grew between Dick and Lily, but overall I enjoyed the story. I am always happy when I am left wanting to know more. I can't say that I thought it was a must read story, but it was a decent read. Like I said before, the author could have given the reader more of Lily and Dick, but you won't be totally disappointed even though it does have a few slow moments.
