I loved it! I finished it in one night and as always it left me craving for more. I love watching the relationships progress and I loved Max getting jealous. What really made me happy was near the end, when Max gave the speech about Global Warming. I think that that part of the ending should be modified and given to the government, hopefully it could change something. But in the mean time I'll just pray about it.

The story pick up at Antarctica. While still getting used to the cold they stumble upon a group of penguins huddled up together to preserve heat to one another. Angle the youngest one is caught up with the cuteness of the small penguins she ask for one and being told no leave walk away and later on finding herself stuck after falling in a snow crack with with her new nest friend Akila a dog and Total the talking dog. Later Max notices and ask everyone if they seen them, and at the meantime there a bad winter storm going on. Later they were found and the happiness did not last long and they where caught my a new group with the leader being called Gozen , Gozen order for his companions to take all of them for a action that was going to happen. At that time there was a Hurricane going on that was at first category 4 then turned to a 5. A big car flew in to on of the widows and then they had there chance to escape. Lastly there was on thing left to do, it was to meet up with there global warming scientist after being caught up to finding out there was two moles and not just one Max lead a meeting with the Government about thing that they can do in order to save the world.

The true enemy was global warming all along. *retching* Seriously, when did we give up on the evil genetics-tampering secret society villains who utilize digital tracking implants, werewolves, VR, manipulation and mind games, and settle on Gwobwall Warmwing as the ultimate baddie? Please. Instead of battling the grotesque, equally victimized, and morally complicated brother-or-not and his pack of slavering henchmen, now we're making political speeches, and our greatest weapon is a rambling, hormonal blog post? I miss the good old days, I guess.
Other things that annoy me at this point in the story:

So overall, I was kind of annoyed with where things have accumulated to at this point in the series, but I’m still going to read as many of these issues as I can get my hands on. I just… don’t know where we’re going with this. And I don’t think the author did either.

The eighth volume of Maximum Ride the manga adaption is finally in my hands. After a long wait for the library to order this book, it was worth it. Or was it?

The weirdest part of this series is their age. That the characters ages are so young for all they do and how they behave. Max is fourteen! She behaves as if she is at least 16 in a YA novel. But look at how she is drawn, i genuinely thought she was 17 for most of the series. Her breasts are far too developed for a 14 year old, she has the hourglass figure. It's unnatural for a 14 year old. Unless they changed their DNA for that too... we dont know. It just isn't real..

There wasn't much development in the plot this time round, there wasn't any plot twist and the characters never did anything to surprise us, they got predictable. There was the moles, thats all. The capturers were the typical capturers, what they did and who they were was simple. I am beginning to lose interest in the series due to this particular volume.

Not only was it predictable, but cheesy too. The good guys always win, Fang's blog was cheesy, the guys with all the power are evil, mother loves daughter no matter what. Its just so cheesy. Yet, there was a moment here or there where I smiled.

The flock did have some action in this book, alot of small things did happen through the plot where you saw the characters develop ever so little. But, hey! Something is better than nothing.

Maximum Ride Volume 8 was a quick enjoyable but weird read with plenty to do with global warming and good art. The message about global warming was sent across clearly but the authors, if that was their message. Since the whole book had something to do with global warming, ever panel.

Thus far, I'm really enjoying the 'Maximum Ride' manga series. I love all the illustrations - especially the ones in COLOUR! The plot has not yet gotten boring for me and I love than each manga contains enough to excite you about an event, and then when everything is epic and the novel ends you are left with an EPIC CLIFFHANGER! I seriously don't know how many times I've been caught by one. Max and her flock are still evolving and her mission is not yet over, despite her fulfilling her destiny. I keep hoping for an EPIC Max and Fang moment but it seems it is always just around the corner. New villains come into play and new drama appears. This instalment is JAMPACKED with adventure and action. Recommended for children to preteens but also good for a quick read as an adult.
Congratulations to James Patterson on having the EIGHT instalment in his manga series published!

I think that I've gotten used to this series so my earlier complaints don't really apply anymore. BUT there are two that I just can't get over:
14 years old and 12 Years old + D cup Boobs = Max and Nudge = IMPOSSIBLE. :/

And Tree Huggers. UGH

Besides that, Its still pretty good.
Happy Reading!

This book follows the flock (Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy, and Angel) to Antarctica. The reason they traveled to Antarctica was because they were sent out to do research on how to stop global warming/climate shifting. Along the way they find out that someone was watching them and did not find out until that person died and revealed a wire leg. Then with the data collected by the spy a group of people ( more like an artificial intelligence ) were sent out to capture the flock and bring them back . They eventully found them out in the snow and trapped them in a net. When they got back to the building where they were keeping them hostige they found out theat their lives were being auctioned off in a bidding war. Eventually nobody won because of a huge hurricane that killed almost everybody. The book ends with a mysterious man aiming a gun at max's head and then you hear a gun shot and the book ends there. I liked this book, but it was a little to predictable for me that's why it has 3 stars.

Maximum Ride vol.9 by James Patterson is about a new begging in Antarctica, there exploring the wonders at risk but they can take it, but ending in them getting lost. They ended up in the enemy's hands but with the help of max (leader) and her intelligence. they were abducted by robots and forced to follow the man's rules. The flock ended up being attacked and almost killed by a huge truck. They ended up somewhere other then Antarctica, and max was chosen for a speech about what happened to her and how dangerous it would've been if she wasn't there to save everyone and herself. Max once again, was being hunted, but this time by a complete maniac. I recommend this book and the two other books I read leading to this ending, I think anyone who likes action should read this book.

First graphic novel of the year. A continuation of a good series. I was never able to get into the actual books as they were written too juvenile for me at this point, but I have enjoyed the manga series. Max and Fang's semi-romance is as always funny and cute. There's plenty of action and suspense in this volume, which consists of chapters 46-52. Artwork is fantastic as always. Some parts are sort of confusing but I'm blaming that more on my not having read the previous volume for quite some time than anything else. And as always, there's always someone or something after our gang of kids.

And just when you think the flock can have a moment of peace, more bad people are trying to capture them. Then there’s a freaking hurricane that somehow lands them in front of congress, talking about global warming. Points to Max for making the speech super patriotic.

This arc of the story just went by REALLY fast and my brain is still waiting like, ‘...is that it?’

This series is based on the James Patterson novel series Maximum Ride.

This series has 11 volumes.

Important Note: The rating is for Lee Narae's illustrations ONLY; please read my series review of the original books by James Patterson here if you'd like. Spoiler alert: the books suck. I only read the manga adaptations because I was reading the books at the same time and it's a shame the beauty of the illustrations is wasted on such a shitty series.

Gorgeous artwork!

Storyline is kind of blah at this point due to the fact that we’ve been wanting to know how to safe the world and it’s global warming?

Don’t get me wrong global warming needs to be taken seriously but the fact that human/bird hybrids main focus is supposed to be to stop global warming is frustrating. I would have loved to see their mission to be a bit more fantasy based due to the fact they are fantasy based.

The flock is in Antarctica working with the scientists on defeating global warming. They're enjoying the food, shelter but not the cold so much. Angel has an accident and Max and Fang must go rescue her in the midst of a raging storm. They end up trapped. Caged again and up for sale to the highest bidder. Whenever they have a nice place to stay it doesn't last long enough. Can they escape their captors? Where will they go next, when no where is safe?

[Review provided by teen volunteer, Alina.] 5 stars - maximum ride, and her 'siblings' (people who she takes care of) are on the run from erasers ( people who are trying to catch them in a cage and use them like some type of since experiment.) Max gets into trouble and has headaches, and lots of clues.

This book did not even come close to comparing to the ones before it I feel like this book was the definition of just a filler book that really didn’t need to be made at all it was still good just like I feel that reason for its existence for no reason had a really cool cover tho so it’s a 3 star from me

This series is about a group of kids who are human bird hybrids and have a lot of special and unique skills they are learning as they go. They are trying to find there birth parents and who they were before they became hybrids. No one is in charge really, but Max is the one who acts as the leader.

It's not a bad volume, the story is okay and the artwork is pretty good. The big downside is hearing Max, a 14 year old whining to Congress how they should save the planet. Frankly if this is her destiny, like how she was supposed to, "Save the world," that's a pretty lame destiny.

What happened to this? I know that Global Warming is super important but instead of doing it smoothly. They ask a robot why he was kidnapping them and then his reasoning is just because of global warming. It just got preachy all of a sudden that I want to like this volume but I just can't.

Another exceptional volume filled with panels and panels of jaw-dropping art. Again, I feel bad because I feel like the story-line of the source material effects my rating. NaRae Lee is phenomenal and makes a fantastic rendition of the Maximum Ride series.

A lot of huge saving the world things going on this time around. Leave it to Max & the flock to save the day (again & again 😅🙌🏼) But of course it’s not over yet. Love how much the gang has changed & grown since book 1.

Kinda creepy pairing the 21 year old and the 14 year old, no? Plus some random unexplained attack that goes nowhere. I thought these books were going to lead somewhere but it’s getting a little drawn out at this point. I couldn’t imagine reading the actual books and not the manga.

Still quite confused on how global warming has its own little part in the story line. Like what. I mean I think it’s cute and probably out of the writers own beliefs to help the planet, so I don’t mind. Silly little book set.
