Old Habits Die Hard

Welcome to After Effex, a premier nail salon where before and after are never the same. Here you’ll find the baddest nail techs and make-up artists you’ll ever want to meet—and will never forget.

Yaya, the diva of the crew, thinks she has finally found true love, and even though her man is a blue collar man, doesn’t drive a Benz, and has a child, she’s decided to overlook all of that and follow her heart. But when tragedy strikes, is her love really strong enough to hold on to him— especially when the one that got away suddenly reappears in her life?

Taryn has had a crush on Lincoln for the longest time. Now that he’s confessed his feelings for her, she is ecstatic, until she finds out about not one, but two women who claim to be carrying his child. Now she has to wonder if he’s really worth all the drama.

All Monya wants to do is work, get paid, and get her party on. Falling in love is the furthest from her mind, especially after the past relationships she’s been in. All that may change when she catches one of her clients cheating and she decides to intervene.

Camille turned down a full scholarship and decided to follow her dreams of becoming a make-up artist. She knows that working at the salon will give her the education, training, and experience she needs to make it to the top—that is if she doesn’t become distracted by falling in love.

Join these ladies on the emotional, hilarious rollercoaster ride of life, love, friendship, heartache, and all the drama in between.

This third book in the Paige and Marlon series was a great read. This book focuses more on Paige's sister-in-law Camille,YaYa (Paige's man Quincy's sister)and Ya-Ya's BFF Taryn.
Ya-Ya runs a successful salon/spa called After Effex and there is plenty of drama going on at that "beauty shop".
Taryn needs to know if Lincoln is the one for her. Ya-ya needs to know if she made the right choice in "lowering" her standards for Fitz. Plus Fitz has "baby mama drama". Camille has to make the choice to return to college, or further her career as a esthetician. Camille may also be falling in love for the first time.
Still causing trouble are Celeste,(Paige's crazy cousin)Kasey, Marlon's new wife and Lucille (Marlon and Camille's drunken mother)but this time they may bite off more trouble than they can chew.

I really liked this book because it shows me how life can change and were it can take you at times people don't know what too do when you face the most horrible situations and know-body's there for you.even though i hate school and everything it comes in handy when i want to get further and it helps in the future some people really dont have that at all.they dont have a chance period to do anything with there life.

La Jill Hunt is one of my go to authors when I just want a good sista/friend story. Old Habits Die Hard did not disappoint me as a reader.

This is definitely a well written contemporary novel featuring young African American women and men who are in business and dealing with personal and professional challenges. I like the fact that the women in this story are well balanced characters. They are hip on one hand and they use their brains and influence to do produce a positive service for the community.

As usual, La Jill leaves the door open for a sequel to this story. I'll be waiting to see what happens next.

Ok, now waiting for the next chapter. Will Carmen become a success at the salon or go out on her own? Will Diesel and YaYa become an item? Will Link continue to go to AA? Will Paige and Quincy stay together or will she go back to her ex-husband like Fitz?

This book was a disappointment. There was no conflict, the characters were all one-dimensional, and I didn't know what the characters wanted.
