Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you...I call with all my heart; answer me, O LORD... My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? These few excerpts from The Book of Psalms touch upon the essential fact that it is a book about relationship—having a real and meaningful connection with God. Finding myself in an ever-deepening love affair with the book of Psalms for many years, Rolan Monje's book was delightful to read. His deep faith and trust in God and his passion for scholarship and teaching led me to new gems I had not discovered nor fully appreciated in the Psalms. I especially love Monje's sections on emotions in the Psalms; the God of the Psalms; affliction, and meditation in the psalms; the power of self-talk, and the power of praise. "Into the Psalms" left me inspired and edified, with many more treasures to go back and explore more fully in the book of Psalms.
