Last season, CIA agent Jack Bauer, played by Golden Globe award-winning actor Keifer Sutherland, had us glued to our TVs and cursing the time clock as he uncovered a plot to assassinate presidential nominee, David Palmer. With just 24 hours to identify the killer, Bauer also had to deal with the kidnapping of his wife and daughter and the existence of a mole at the agency. This season he's at it again, helping President David Palmer save Los Angeles from nuclear ravage. Lest you think Jack had some down time between life-altering experiences, check out 24: The House Special Subcommittees Findings at CTU. It's a new book providing a riveting account of Jack's grueling appearance before our government's most inquiring minds during their probe into alleged wrongdoings at CTU that first fateful 24 hour period. The testimony from these closed hearings was leaked to investigative journalist Marc Cerasini, who then ran with it to publisher HarperCollins. With some of the finest reporting seen since Woodward's coverage of the Pentagon Papers, this book
Best-selling author, Marc Cerasini has spent time on the New York Times and USA Today best-seller's lists. His writing spans from children's picture books and young adult novels to adult mystery and military nonfiction. Along the way, he's managed to ghostwrite for Tom Clancy.
If you like the show 24 and want more information about the first season this book is for you. It adds more lore and is presented as official lore. Definitely recommend this.
I recently did a binge-rewatch of season 1 of 24. Great show, but it left me with a number of questions. And this book answered every single one of them. It's presented as a report of what happened on the day of season 1, with a number of interviews, reports and news clippings. A must read before watching season 2! Be warned though, you don't want to read this on a kindle. The book is image-heavy and they display too small to read on the screen. I had to open my ebook on my computer to review all of them.
I do like to read all these official books connected to my favourite TV series and this was a welcome addition to the collection. If you like the series and this type of companion book then you'll probably enjoy this.
It's sad that I read this, it really is, but I'm feeling nostalgic this week so I'm admitting it here. This is actually cute and entertaining, especially for the parts in which Jack Bauer has to justify his job to Congress ('That's when I loaded the tranquilizer gun...')
Season 1 of 24 is still my favorite season. This book was a nice fill-in between season 1 and season 2 for those who needed a 24 fix during the summer months.
