This book is about a boy name Marco who wants a bigger allowance from his parent because all of his friends get more from school. He feels like he should too. He tries to convince his parents to see things from his perspective of increasing his allowance. This book could help children understand what fair is, or how to come up with different methods to get a point across.
This book would be a great addition to grade 2 - 5 class libraries. Suggestions for activities are in the back of the book. I would use this book in 3rd grade math class to intrdoduce graphs. It will help students to connect with how reading, interpreting and creating graphs chould be beneficial to them. This book also has a great story line that could engage the students into the lesson.
Good intro to allowances, bar graphs and pushing for changes. The text was a bit difficult for kids under 6 or so, but great for the 6 to 8 year old group.
