I had an art teacher long ago who told me drawing was just putting a collection of shapes together. This book builds upon that premise. What results is neither a good story nor a solid collection of illustrations.
Moral: Shapes are great.
Length: It’s a song an goes quick, thankfully.
Favorite Line: “Square, square, square, square, triangle, triangle…”
Overall impression: If I’m going take a guy’s advice on drawing and using shapes, I at least want to see a fun product of art. This isn’t fun art at all, which just highlights the awful story line. This book will have a short life on Mavis’s bookshelf.

I wasn't a fan of this book. It had a lot of repetition that I did not enjoy and it didn't seem like it flowed well. The illustrations were okay and full of color, but meh, I didn't like how the book was structured and how the illustrations were organized. The book did come with a musical CD, but I didn't listen to it so I am unsure how the song actually goes melody wise.

My five-year-old son picked this book out from the library last week. He does like his shapes.
Er, um, my son had fun making the shapes with his body. Other than that, he didn't gain much from this book and he didn't really enjoy it. But it was fun watching him make the shapes with his body. Especially, the square.

Shape Story Time. I love SteveSongs and this is one of my favorite tunes that he uses. Good for toddlers through preschool. I will definitely use this for Movement and Music.

I have the book without the CD, so can't comment on the tune/melody of the song but the kids enjoyed the book and finding the different shapes within the pages.

3. This is a song book that tells a story of how the narrator has a shape collection in which he or she uses to create and draw different objects, pictures, etc with their shapes. Shapes like lines, circles, triangles and squares are all mentioned throughout the book.
4. This book holds very colorful fun illustrations that support the readers see how by using shapes, one can create wonderful drawings, stories, and much more. It teaches students the importance and fun of drawing, essentially teaching them the importance of writing, since one needs to create shapes like lines and circles to form letters.
5. -Students could be assigned to make collages using shapes. Each student could have a poster with an assigned shape. Their job is to look through magazines and cut out objects that have the same shape like a pizza pie for a circle or a book for a rectangle.
-Children could have a bunch of shapes made out of paper and their job is to create something using only shapes. For example they could use a rectangle and a triangle to make a house. The assignment may be vague but it is so that children's imaginations are not limited to a certain theme.
