This was published as a companion book to the nearly 5-hour TBS documentary of the same name. On its own it was rather disappointing. There were some great photographs and brief biographies, but the captioning was inadequate - some photographs were uncaptioned, and for those with captions, they were often minimal and difficult to find.

But this book contained enough to remind me of the amazing progress that was made in the area of Women's Rights during the 20th century, especially in documenting how horrible things were at the beginning of the century.

Ironically, I kept flashing on a recent clip of Glen Beck accusing Progressives of wanting "evolution", before looking at his CPAC audience and stating, "We don't want evolution!" This and other historical recaps of the last century serve to remind us that though there are always outspoken critics of any social change, the dedicated persistance of a few can bring about social evolution that benefits the many.
