I was given this book as a Christmas gift from a good friend. When I first looked at the summary on the back cover, I was intrigued, yet reluctant. I normally wouldn't read missionary Christian literature, but I felt that my friend had given me this book for a reason and that I was obligated to give it a chance.
Bruce Wilkinson is a Christian author who writes self-help books and is a dedicated missionary. He is a firm believer in God and encourages his readers to join him in his belief. So as I began the book, I was resistant to being patronized. Yet as I got further into the book, I began to see how his ideas of opening oneself to performing miracles for others could be applied by any person of faith, regardless of one's particular religious creed. In fact, I found it to have a very similar message to the Dalai Lama's book, How to Practice: The Way to a Meaningful Life.
Wilkinson presents a series of "keys" to involving oneself in miracles. Essentially, his message is that if you devote yourself to partnering with God (Master Key), genuinely show compassion for others (People Key), allow the spirit to guide you (Spirit Key), and take risks to do what God intends for you (Risk Key), you can unlock others' hearts and reveal to them God's presence and His good intentions for them.
Wilkinson also outlines three "keys" for common types of miracles. These are the money key, dream key, and forgiveness key. Each of these issues can drive people into cyclical negativity if they don't open their hearts and address them honestly.
The key which really struck me was the dream key. Wilkinson explains that God creates each of us as unique beings, each with a unique purpose. When we are pursuing that purpose, we are following God's intentions. When we do not pursue our dreams, we quickly lose our vigor and grow steadily more negative.
As kids, we all have big dreams. Nothing is impossible and we know exactly what we want to do when we grow up, be it a firefighter, doctor, or the President. Yet when we do grow up, many of us give up on our dreams and make excuses for why we were unable to achieve them. As our dreams drift farther away from the foreground of our lives, we become bitter, cynical, and negative towards others who are pursuing and achieving their dreams. This is no way to live. The truth is that each of us has the power to do whatever we choose with every second of every day of our lives. When you are pursuing your dream, every moment you spend doing so is exciting and you will have no regrets. I can strongly relate to the truth of this through my own experiences.
In summary, although this book was heavy with a Christian missionary vibe, I very much agreed with Wilkinson in his assessment of the human condition. We need more people to take the message of this book to heart, genuinely devote themselves to helping others, and thereby help themselves. His guidelines for how to deliver miracles are very real and effective and I would recommend this book to readers of any faith.

May 20, 2019Found this to be a compelling and interesting read. The ideas behind this book aren't generally new to me. In ridiculously short summary, the book basically talks about how we, as individuals can act for God to produce miracles in the lives of those around us. I've always felt this, and found myself frequently nodding in agreement as I read. But do I act enough in faith? Do I listen to those promptings as they come, or ignore them and convince myself that it would be silly/scary/ridiculous to speak or act as I have felt prompted to do? The book does a great job of exploring these issues, empowering readers to live and act in faith more frequently, opening up our hearts to the individual work that God would have us do.
My mother once told me a story of how, in a planning meeting where she and a group of women were working to plan a large women's conference, everything simply fell into place. They had prayed mightily to be guided, to know what it was that they needed to plan, and with a little discussion, were able to create the event in their minds with no conflict and relative ease. She said to me, "It was amazing, but then, why are we amazed that God would guide us?" This book echoes that sentiment. If we are regularly praying, asking God to allow us to do His will, and serve others, then we will have the opportunity to do so. And though the results may seem like little mini miracles, really it's simply an expression of God's love.
This was a quick read that made me think and made me feel good about life's possibilities. For that reason, I'm happy to recommend it.

Simple idea: miracles happen all the time and we can help bring them to the people who need them.
There were a lot of stories to illustrate each point so much so that I became impatient for it to end.
I like the message of this book and I do believe it gives me a good foundation to improve on what I think I know about miracles. Keep looking for them and you'll see them.

In 'You Were Born for This' Bruce Wilkinson explains how each one of us can partner up with God to become what he calls a miracle delivery agent. According to the author, God is constantly looking for willing delivery agents to bring help and breakthroughs to those in need. Examples of past situations in which a 'delivery agent' received a God-nudge to approach someone (usually a total stranger) for whom a miracle is intended are given. It does require some bravery to follow the instructions outlined in the book and a willing reader may want to start out small. A good ability to listen to one's inner self is necessary to 'hear' God's instructions on what to do or say next to a person in need of a miracle. The book is very intriguing and the author delivers the explanations and instructions rather audaciously but with much passion and personal conviction.

Willkinson describes how God uses us to accomplish miracles aimed at other people. He encourages the reader to commit to doing God’s work (the Miracle Key) with an open heart (the People Key), while confidently relying on God’s agenda (the Spirit Key) and taking leaps of faith (the Risk Key). He applies these keys to meeting financial needs (the Money Key), living a purpose-filled life (the Dream Key), and freeing oneself from unforgiveness (the Forgiveness Key).
I found the “miracle delivery” steps very similar to life/business coaching techniques, but with a God-inspired focus. While the concept of partnering with God to accomplish miracles is noble, I did not find this book as universally relevant or engaging as The Prayer of Jabez.

This book pumped me up so much and gave me such a renewed heart and vision and desire to see God work in amazing ways in my life. I love Bruce’s simple, immediate approach to asking to partner with God for a life of miracles and it is something I am so excited to practice emulating in my own life. If you feel deep down that there has to more to the Christian life, and like you just know God is looking to do more in you and through you than what is happening in life right now, you have to read this book!

Incredible! At first you may feel like this is a salesy book for living a life led by the Holy Spirit. Then you realize that it is a salesy book for living life led by the Holy Spirit and that is okay. :)
Bruce intentionally puts clear guardrails and action steps to what is truly a rail-less experience of making ourselves available to God for divine appointments. I didn't sense that there was anything sacrilegious about the systematic approach and really appreciated the numerous examples he used for how he practically makes himself available and steps out in faith.
If you are wanting to be used by God in miraculous ways, this is the book for you.

I would give this book 2.5 stars if I could. It took me ages to get through not because it was not easy to read but because I did not want to pick it up again. I liked and agreed with lots of things in the book but I also did not like or agree with other things. I do not see in the Bible 5 steps to do anything so I am not sure where he came up with the idea that you have to follow these 5 steps to do a miracle.
I believe God does miracles through his people but some of the things in the book just did not sit well with me.

... for this particular time in my life. I've always believed God wanted to use me to bless others, but I did not realize that I could partner with Heaven and be intentional about it! This book was written for me and before I was one-third of the way through it I was already under conviction about a need I knew about on the other side of the world.
One problem, though. The links at the end of the book for the book's website go instead to a YouTube video by Rick Astley!

It’s an amazing and inspiring book, that can really energise one spirit.
The author listed 7 Keys that we can truly follow to experience a daily doses of miracles that God has been waiting for His believing followers to live a daily miraculous live on earth. It’s a very good guide for believers to learn and experience an abundance of victorious life while journeying on earth.

One of my Favorites now

This book has a beautiful underlying concept: that human beings are here to do good for one another, and that we have the power to deliver “personal miracles” to others through our own intention and willingness to do so. I gave it 2 stars because for me the message delivery was too dogmatic to properly do justice to the beautiful premise on which it is based.

Do you believe miracles happen today? I have long believed in everyday miracles; the kind of encounters and connections that can't be explained away by coincidences. But this book really opened my eyes to how we can each play a part in everyday miracles and how God can use us to reach others. After reading this book, I want to begin each day asking God to use me for his work.

This book affirms the potential everyone has for God to deliver a miracle to others through him or her. A very practical book packed with advice and insights on how we can experience every day miracles as we not only avail ourselves for God's service but intentionally ask God to use us. Bruce Wilkinson's book is a gem.

There were good points in this book and much of it read like The Secret with God obviously at the center.
I feel like much of what was said and explained could have been done so with fewer words.
Overall, the lesson learned is to be a God-fearing person, open to delivering His blessings to others. Sharing His love is our own special miracle.

Before reading this book, I was somewhat skeptical of the contents and wondered why I decided to buy this book at the first place. However i got hooked by it before i even finished the first chapter. The book is eye-opening and the stories and testimonies shared in the book are so heartwarming and always made me emotional and weep. Would highly recommend especially for Christian readers.

I became disillusioned by the end of the book. No opportunities to help people as outlined in this book came my way.
