"She’s a minor. She’ll come out of this smelling like baby powder.”
California author Humphry Knipe, a graduate of Rhodes University, South Africa, is an honored writer of a wide range of topics – history (THE NERO PREDICTION and NAPOLEON’S ROSEBUD), GHOST WRITING (his ‘autobiography’ of famed erotic photographer wife Suze Randall SUZE), the pornography industry (LIES. LOVE & PORN based on underaged superstar of pornography Traci Lords), sociology (THE DOMINANT MAN: The Mystique of Personality and Prestige), and children’s books (TIME TAXI: THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE). Humphry continues his expertise in writing fascinating subject matter imbued with history in this his latest book ELECTRIC BLUE.
Humphry informs us that this new novel is the finished product of his earlier LIES, LOVE & PORN and opens his book in that notorious year 1986 when shooting blue movies was both chic and dangerous and President Reagan published his Commission on Pornography. Los Angeles 1986 PC was losing her edge. Ten years ago, five even, they would have been gassing themselves with angry hits from their cigarettes as they ate her alive with their eyes. They sat back in their chairs now, toying with the ice in their drinks, their cigarettes steaming away unattended, their lust reeled in like a fisherman’s line waiting for a younger fish to swim into the pool of light. Screw them, she might not be a goddess anymore but she was still a babe. How often did they see a pair of legs like hers, long and lean with every toned muscle stripped clean of subcutaneous fat? Or an {rear] like hers, perfectly contoured and tight as two angry fists? Did they have any idea how hard she fought to keep in this kind of shape or how her workout weights kept on getting heavier every year like malicious exceptions to the law of gravity? Or the risks she ran of silicone poisoning to serve them these perfectly sculptured DD breasts? Her face no longer bloomed with youth. But in most ways it retained the improvements wrought by a dozen painful encounters with the scalpel. Her nose had shrunk from a beak to a button, a little too small for perfection actually, due to post-operative degeneration of the cartilage brought on by cocaine-assisted infection. The bags under her eyes had been removed by laser. Her lips, originally too thin, were thickened into a petulant pout by regular injections of botox. Her cheeks had been lifted, her ears pinned back, her teeth straightened and then capped, her pubic hair extracted by wax so that the only place her skin was covered when she stripped was her scalp where her mousy hair had been lengthened with extensions and dyed raven black. Every night after her bath she massaged herself with fabulously expensive body lotions she could no longer afford. But her skin had to be perfect because when she worked eyeballs rooted around in every pore. She wasn’t just anybody with a rebuilt body making her bucks by bouncing buns of steel in men’s faces. She was PC, star of a hundred porn videos, queen of screamers – she put as much work into her sexual vocalizations as a diva polishing her high C. She had been somebody – not bad for someone who had started out as nothing.’
There is a ring of immediacy throughout this probing book - a book whose story comes from a woman’s vantage and as such speaks volumes about feminism and the manner in which the role of women has progressed form the days of his novel to present somewhat improved standards.
Humphrey’s plot outline sums the novel well – ‘PC is a porn star whose star is fading. Disillusioned and destitute, she is on the point of accepting that her career choice was a soul destroying disaster when she meets a beautiful girl with a false ID who persuades PC to become her agent. PC agonizes over leading someone down the same dead end path she has taken − until she discovers that she is a pawn in the girl’s grand game.’
Fine writing with a bit of history that we all should know, though the author assures us the story is simply ‘based on’ a real person. The result? A movie waiting to happen.
Pricilla “PC” Crasnick had lost her virginity to an Iranian in the back of his hot car. Santa Monica College, PC (18) was majoring in literature. She had run across Damon Luce (Lucifer films) when she was working at the supermarket. Marina Del Rey, Dock G. Diablo (jetty). PC Screamer had her interview. 1986, Los Angeles, CA. PC (porn star) was discovering she was starting to lose her edge to the younger stars. The cocaine wasn’t helping either.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written semi-erotic book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great semi-erotic movie, or better yet a mini TV series. It was just OK for me so I will rate it at 3/5 stars.

Omg what a phenomenal book! This is an extraordinary story. It is so completely well written and thought through. I could not put it down and read in one setting. Hence writing this review at the crack of dawn. This is PC’s story. This books is about the sex industry of the 80’s, and PC and her fading career as a porn star. This is one hot and steamy book. And lots of sex. PC is a fading porn star whose time in the industry was fast fading out with no much left even though she tried so hard to keep up with the looks, age was not on her side any longer. PC star maybe fading. There was not much she could do about it either. As time has not been kind to her. Even though she tried real hard to keep up the looks. Time had other plans for her This book is not just about sex, it takes a look at what it takes to survive in the sex industry. An industry where unfortunately you have to use your body to make it. There is so much greed and humiliation she had to go through to survive in the pleasure industry. Unfortunately it's like that can take its toll on your body and it was really bad for her.
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.
Electric Blue: Her Shocking Rise to Stardom by Humphry Knipe is a fictional story loosely based on Traci Lords who was an underage porn star who was remarkably famous. The story follows PC who is on the verge of becoming old news in the business with not other vocational skills to keep her alive. Along comes Electric Blue who is underage with fake IDs and she wants PC to be her agent and help her get into the porn business. PC is left with no choice but to help the underage girl. The book really gives some insight I to the porn industry pre-internet. A time when porn was really nothing more than magazines and movies that were hid under the bed. I found it interesting that Humphry Knipe was actually very much involved in the porn industry and has first hand experience with situations such as these which adds a touch of credibility to the story. This book is definitely not for prudes, the language and the story line are very sexual…. I wouldn’t have expected anything less from a book about pornstars though.
This is a delectable book I can’t say enough good things about. It is Fifty Shades of Grey, only written ten times better and with the woman pulling the strings – for once for God’s sake! – as Electric Blue sends jolts of joy through your body while she wraps you and the entire world of porn round her little finger.
Humphrey Knipe knows this world inside out, intimately and lovingly, and his character is based very closely indeed on the real-life Blue who turned it – and his own life – upside-down just a few years ago.
Reveling in this wickedly charming book – trembling each time you turn the page, what is she going to do next? – you can’t help thinking of the many ways its irresistible girl anti-hero reminds you of a female Hannibal Lecter. He’s a monster, but oh, how we love him. It’s a heck of a trick to pull off, but Humphry Knipe has done it. Rush out and buy this scrumptious book right this minute and let Blue have you for dinner.
The porn industry never felt so real and intriguing, interesting sentence, right? This is the type of story which makes you fall from the start into this world and won’t let you go until you finished the whole book. A fallen porn star, knowing her best time has already passed she is considering to move on from that stage on her life until she finds a considerable motivation to keep doing business, but little did she know at the moment, that everything was a set up and she was only a piece on a bigger game. Everything has two sides, the porn industry as appealing as it may appears for a lot of people, is not always like that, the author creates a believable and realistic approach to a world many considers it as paradise, I love this approach taken and of course the main character which a very strong representation of a powerful woman, it end up being my favorite part of the book, there are a lot of steamy moments but don’t get me wrong, there is a lot more to enjoy in this book.
Electric Blue A walk down the sex industry of the 80’s This book leads us into the sex industry of the 1980’s into the life of a fading porn star by the name PC. The erotic scenes and the style of storytelling is enough to throw anyone off balance. This is one book that will get you glued to its pages.
PC is a fading porn star whose time in the industry was fast fading out with no much left even though she tried so hard to keep up with the looks, age was not on her side any longer. There may be a lot of steamy moment in this fictional novel, however, it is certainly not a book about sex. It discusses a far more pressing topic. It looks at what it takes to survive in the industry where the body is the market. Humphry addressed the issues of greed in the industry as well as the dark side of that pleasure industry which is not so pleasing.
This book is an interesting piece of literature with a lot of expectations. Electric blue is a fast-paced action that does not waste too much time in bringing together all the bits and pieces. It is suitable for matured readers.
Electric Blue: Her Shocking Rise to Stardom by Humphry Knipe chronicles the life of a fading porn star and the trouble she gets into. PC is that porn star, who in the beginning was a plain kind of girl, mousy, not buxom, and with thin lips. Even she thinks she's not much to look at. But with the wonders of plastic surgery and help in the porn industry she makes it big. This story is a thinly veiled re-telling of the true life story of Traci Lords, who was underage in the porn business yet wildly successful. The author himself is a former director of films in this industry. This gives the story credence and authenticity where you might think that would be lacking. A gutsy, riveting story that takes a look at the reality of working in the porn industry, this book contains a great plot, interesting characters, and a strong female lead, which is really the point of the whole book.
A story of a young woman named PC and the world of porn
The story of PC and how she went from the simple girl next door to the queen of the porn industry. The benefits of plastic surgery, botox, and hours of working out keeps her in the minds of the masses but for how long? As she contemplates her life and the choices she has made , a young girl wants her to become her agent The story develops with this young porn star and her rise to fame only to discover her real age. A fun exotic story that has shades of Traci Lords life story. Well written with good characters and a gripping story line. This fun journey will keep you turning pages with a fast heart rate and eyes glued to the next page to see what happens. A good read and fun distraction from the daily routine. I recommend this one to all those who love a little erotica in life.
Electric Blue is the story of PC’s journey as an in demand porn star to the struggles she faces to stay relevant. During those low points, she meets an underage girl looking for her break and becomes an advisor to her. I thoroughly enjoyed that the novel begins with PC has a teenager before her porn career starts so the readers can totally understand the background.
The biggest surprise of the novel - for me - came at the end where the author talks about his history with this field. It makes so much sense that he is so knowledgeable about it.
The book can get pretty sexually descriptive so just be warned about that.
Other than that, this was definitely an interesting read.
Electric Blue: Her Shocking Rise to Stardom takes the reader quickly through the life PC and how she came into the world of porn movies. After ten years, she finds this world has turned its back on her and she is stuck with debt and no other job skills, other than bagging groceries. This is when Electric Blue drops into her place and she has no other options but to be her agent. This tells a similar narration of Traci Lords, an underage worker in this industry who lies about her age. As a erotica themed novel it has strong female characters and an objective plot, but the realization of what these women have to face to run in this cut-throat occupation, I find demeaning.
Sexy, erotic, intriguing, deceit, shock, and more lie in wait in "Electric Blue." I thought this would be an erotic tale of sorts. I was hoping for more, and I got it! The plot is very interesting as are the characters! PC's porn life seems to be fading and a new opportunity arises - but all is not what it seems. This book pleasantly surprised me and I am adding to the several positive reviews I read before purchasing it. Be prepared for a shove into the porn industry/world and its inhabitants.
Shows the seamier side of life where everyone tries to profit off the newbie, knowing in their hearts she is younger than she claims but willing to exploit for profit
