Review - I enjoyed the mix of primary source material and the commentary running alongside into some of the more famous aspects of the Tudor period. However, I did feel that the primary sources could have been signposted better - some of the sources cited it is difficult to figure out where they came from if you wanted to cite them in an essay or look further into them. Nevertheless this is an invaluable resource for those wanting to discover some resources from the time, especially in a single collection exploring events like the Battle of Flodden, Field of the Cloth of Gold or coronation of Henry VIII.

The book provides not only information about the Tudor reign, but also a glimpse of the life of the common people. One of the better books by Loades.
