This is the indispensable, inspirational and practical guide to being resourceful by design in your home. Save money, save the planet and stay ahead in the style if theres something going spare, theres a use for it somewhere. With a wealth of tricks and tips, design examples from leading luminaries such as Jasper Morrison and Marcel Waanders, and step-by-step projects you can try around the house, "Remake Home" provides design inspiration and practical know how in equal measure. Smart, savvy, entertaining and fully illustrated throughout, this book will show you how to make the most of the things you already have in style.
If you enjoy crafts and up-cycling, this book has gathered many ideas to try out. (Although, if you can spare the time, you can find many of them online. But having the book is very much a time-saver!) It also has examples of professional product designers' works, which I find extra interesting.
This book is quite possibly the best book on this subject I've ever seen. It's a gorgeous book to start with - materials and layout - and then it's chock full of awesome upcycling. And it covers everything - there are the awesome, designer-sourced upcycles... there are lots of little snippets of different ideas of things you might do with things in your own home... and there are actual projects with actual directions tossed in here and there. Fantastic.
So this is a book I was able to pick up for a quarter several months ago at a yard sale. While the premise of it is interesting and their are some unique ideas, it didn't impress me. I think anyone who is an avid blog reader, won't find anything they haven't see before. But if you wait until things are featured in print magazines or on HGTV then this might be pretty inspirational to you!
