Of the home buying books I've read, this one provided the most cursory explanations, directing you to your Realtor for more information. While I understand that this is put out by the NAR, I would have hoped for some more depth. It covers the basics on why to buy a home, how to choose a Realtor, how to find a house, secure, a loan, inspection, etc., but omits many of the details or subtleties you may encounter, (which you may not care about). If I hadn't read other books on the subject, I might have liked this more. If you're looking for a quick read on the basics, this is a good starting point; however if you want more substance, I'd start with the NOLO's Essential Guide to Buying Your First Home or the Dummies book on buying a home.

I don't know if it is because this book is older or because I had already other home buying books or what. But I felt like it just skimmed so many topics without really being helpful.
