This beautiful board book is written and photographed by the authors of the best-selling "In the Woods" children's picture book series. An off-shoot of it's parent book, award-winning "First Snow in the Woods" this little book's simple story and beautiful wildlife photography is sure to delight the littlest nature lovers -- and their parents and grandparents, too!
This book is proof that you can learn something from anything, even a board book you read to children.
I learned something from this book that I thought for sure was incorrect, that monarch butterflies migrate south during the winter. I thought that couldn't possibly be true that their lifespan couldn't be long enough to support such a trip. Well guess what, I was wrong. They do migrate south! I did not know that, I doubted it, but the internet informed me that it was so. I have learned, therefore it gets an extra star.
It got another extra star because of the picture of the chipmunk! His cheeks were stuffed full! And it was adorable!!!! And it reminded me of Ao from Akatsuki no Yona!!!! Extra star!
A good science read about the winter season with actual photographs of wildlife. I liked the photographs, but their collision with the text--and poor font choice--felt busy to me and prevented me from fully appreciating the text.
