Aliens. New worlds. A contact that will shake humanity.

The recon ship, the Ichi, made contact with alien beings far from home, making new allies and new enemies.

A hastilybuilt fleet makes for the Centauri system, desperate to catch up with the Ichi, and their arrival comes just in time to encounter the almost invisible threat of the warlike alien raceVa'alen. But the fleet soon discovers that what is dominant technology in one solar system is dangerously out of its depth in another.

Finding themselves in the middle of an alien conflict, inadvertently picking sides in exchange for advanced technology, the true cost of war is brought home to them in stark reality and loss of life.

Leaving Centauri for Earth, and unaware of the scale of power and technology they will need to secure the system and all the resources it holds, Admiral Dassiova's fleet is in deeper water than they can imagine.

Continue the epic Expansion series, picking up where Recon ended off. From Devon C Ford, the bestselling author of the hit PostApocalyptic series, After It Happened.

Devon is from the UK, having lived in many places until finally settling in the Midlands. His career in public services started in his teens and has provided a wealth of experiences, both good and some very bad, which form the basis of the book ideas that cause regular insomnia.

He first started reading for fun as an adult, having tried his hardest to avoid anything resembling academia growing up, and at that point the world became a far bigger place. He has been reading, at least one book at a time, ever since.

His debut works, the After It Happened series, (Survival, Humanity, Society) were published in April 2016 followed by Hope (July 2016) and Sanctuary (December 2016). The first part of the series concluded with the release of Rebellion which was published in June 2017.

Storming high into the charts with the first books of the After It Happened series, Devon launched into the top 10 sellers listings in the UK, Australia, Canada and the US, and he made the decision to write full time shortly after the launch of Hope.

Devon’s self-published beginnings caused a stir in the publishing world, and resulted in contracts with Podium Publishing for Audible, narrated by R.C. Bray (The Martian, Expeditionary Force, Arisen), before a publishing deal for kindle and paperbacks with Vulpine Press.

Further works have seen the start of a multi-author series, sci-fi/post-apocalyptic cross genre, futuristic dystopian and alternative history zombie apocalypse. Spin-off books from the After It Happened world have been announced for 2018.

Slow, predictable, unsurprising

Overall an ok story. The characters are at times interesting and at others not
Humans find a race of aliens and immediately assume they are the good guys and the ones that attack them to be the bad ones. Talk about a leap of faith
The main characters from book 1 seem to take a bit of a back seat in this one, which is a shame, as they seem to have the most potential of them all. The new characters, especially the Admiral and the competing Captain seem to just take.over the storyline
The only interesting aspect is Torres and whilst he figures more towards the end, still does not provide the character attachment that a series like this needs

A little slow at the beginning, but don’t give up on it.

Excellent book, a lot of story threads going on. I thought the first part of the book was a bit slow, but the action eventually picked up. Specter of course is the most interesting character and I hope will be developed more as a next book comes out. Excellent character development, the interplay between the characters is so real that you enjoy even the minor characters. Eagerly awaiting the next book.

Contact is made...

Good expansion (see what I did there) on the first book. The intrigue builds, more characters introduced and become more prominent. Although for me this was a problem. I wanted to stay with Brandt and the original team and this book slides away from them towards the end. I'm hoping they return more as it is their innovative, heroic bravery that kick starts the events and resolves many problems. It would seem wrong to just dump them for a lot of political maneuvering.
On to book 3 with guns blazing I think!

A DCF. SYFY. Novel (TESB - 2)/ANew Face of Beings/Attempting to do What is Right

DCF. has. penned the second novel of the Expansion series, where the humans and aliens are both attempting to create opportunities for both sentiment beings. The activities back on Earth continue to escalate towards war as the different factions continue to accelerate their programs into war machine as opposed to fact finding intergalactic details. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

I listened to this audio book, only because it came as a 2 pack, and I dislike leaving things unfinished.

This book was more, uninspired story telling. The same flat characters, the same scientific inaccuracies, just more of the same. Even Luke Daniel's performance was more of the same sub par quality, which is a shame cause I know he can do better.

Needless to say, I will not be continuing this series any further.

This is a decent story but there's not a lot of originality here.
