It's a time when we prepare our lives--hearts, minds, and spirits--for the coming of the Christ child. We sweep out the corners of our hearts, cleaning up the clutter, to make space for God's hope, peace, joy, love, and presence. The Uncluttered Heart offers four weeks of guided reflection through the weeks of Advent on through Epiphany. Each day provides a
This has been our church devotional for Advent 2023 and it’s been really wonderful. Beth Richardson uses deep quotes, engaging scriptures and wonderful short devotionals to focus each day. The best part of each are the “Carry these words in your heart” watchwords for each day. Both the inclusiveness and the accessibility of this devotional make it a great and faithful addition to your Advent.
This is my go to book for my family tradition of advent candle devotions at dinner. we rotate years doing full devotional or scripture reading and just using the group text from the back, or some combination of the two. there's plenty of text to keep the readings feeling fresh from year to year being picking different portions. This is one of my favorite ways to remember what we are celebrating at Christmas and to focus my heart.
Very good book of devotionals to help you stay focused on the meaning of Advent and Christmas. Suitable for individuals and includes a group study guide as well.
This book is the perfect companion throughout Advent and the Christmas season. The daily reflections are clear, short enough to read in a few minutes and help to put the proper perspective on the season. The group guide at the end of the book is ideal for small Faith groups to share the book and to get the most out of Advent and Christmas.
This is the BEST Advent book I have ever read. It is concise, meaningful and will be my pick each Advent to read as I journey through the season of waiting.
Another lovely Upper Room Books Advent devotional, accessible to a broad theological range of christians. Great tips for using this in groups, interesting quotations from inspirational authors & scripture to begin reflection and discussion.
I've been trying to figure out if I read this before because I got the blog posts for this book for years (until they stopped them last June). This was an appreciate Advent Study. Some of the daily 'Thoughts for the day' were extremely timely. Overall I'm glad its in my list of studies.
