disappointed
I was so excited for this book to come out. I have been counting down the day’s. We finally get to the release date and bluh. Don’t get me wrong there were some good parts. Loved that we got to meet Griffin and found out all that happened to him. Then learning what happened with Zain and why he is how he is was great. BUT I love angst as much as the next person but when we are going into *SURPRISE* there’s going to be a 4th book and
*spoilers*
We are still fighting the same people just the head honchos keep changing as you kill them off. It’s basically like the song that never ends….If I’m going into book 4 I need something else to happen not dragging out the same story line. I think it would of been better if they would just not have killed the big baddie every. single, book. because immediately another one just pops up to jump in their place. When I got to the end I actually threw my kindle and yelled “ YOU HAVE GOT TO BE F$&!ing kidding me!” No one has this bad of luck. Come on!!!

I love the characters (all of them). I love the world-building. I love the writing. It still feels like an X-Men reverse harem, and I'm digging it.
My one complaint is that these characters really need a win. I'm getting really tired of them always losing, getting caught, suffering, being trapped or separated, etc. They are always being outsmarted, and I'm just tired. I need like, ONE good thing to happen to them. Also, it feels off that they keep getting captured because there are 6 main characters with extremely deadly superpowers fighting against like a few humans, and it feels like they shouldn't keep being captured and outsmarted so easily?
Based on the cliffhanger and the blurb for book 4, it does not seem promising that they will start winning anytime soon, and it's already exhausting me. Every book just adds a new big villain, and there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

I found this book extremely frustrating. One step forward and three steps backwards. Captured. Free. Captured. Free. Captured…. Gets slow and old and frustrating. I loved the first two books and was so excited for this one.

Same shit, different book. Like it’s actually getting ridiculous. I really liked the first two books but it’s becoming very repetitive. Especially this book. We are still fighting the same bad guys except new bosses take over and the group keeps escaping and getting re-captured over and over again. It’s becoming so boring. The one thing I liked in this book was getting to know Griffin and that’s it.

With every book going forward I feel story is getting worse instead of getting better.
They supposed to be extremely strong creatures with very good training, yet they keep being taken down so easily.
The whole keep getting caught repeating scenario just become annoying, they seem not to think much about decisions they make.
Riva is making too much decisions and honestly I see her as a reason they keep mess up.
3 books they keep escaping and keep getting caught. Honestly at this point I’am just fed up with repeating scenario.
Book had huge potential, but I don’t like where book is going or the way it’s being written, too much repeating, too much plot dragging.

Was a little repetitive with all the re-capturing, but overall, it's still good. I found myself kind of annoyed by all the characters at times.
Like they have spent their whole life being experimented on, manipulated, abused etc. by this organization and they know this org is bad and can't be trusted, but the second they are shown some photos its enough to cast doubt on their albeit tentative allies. The bad guys have already proven they can doctor footage pretty realistically, but sure, believe (almost immediately) the people you have been on the run from.
I feel like the shadowkind plot from book 2 was forgotten about/overlooked minus the very few mentions of Rollick and the photos.

I'm bored to death. I tried to read this series, I even made it to the third book, but I just can't slog through anymore. I just don't care. I'm not interested. I dislike the FMC more and more as the series progresses. She's such a whiny little bitch. I'm tired of constantly reading about them being in captivity. Captivity is boring. Nothing happens. And they're being stupid trusting what everyone says to be truth.

Eva Chase is popping off with this series! There is so much action throughout the book and I love seeing all of the group start working together more. I just feel so bad for what Zee went through but I loved how the guys came together to help him in the ways that they could. We also get another heart wrenching cliffhanger and I am terrified to start the next book.

WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK!! CAN’T THESE POOR CHARACTERS EVER GET A BREAK?? THEY BETTER HAVE THE BEST HEA I’VE EVER SEEN!! I swear EVERY SINGLE TIME they get the tiniest of breaks or getaways, shit hits the fan AGAIN. At the end, I took a breath of relief, and then out of nowhere another plot twist.
Obviously, this book continues after we find out that Griffin is still alive, but we come to find out that he’s different, he seems empty and emotionless, and this gets explained later in the book. This book reminds me of the movie Allegiant, where you think you find the good guys and you associate with them, work with them until you find out they are not who you think they are or they have ulterior motives. I don't want to say too much to spoil it, but that’s the vibes we get. We get to see more of the younger generation of shadowbloods and I love how the older ones (the main characters) start to care and protect them. There isn’t as much spice, but that’s understandable, but there still is spice, don’t worry. There’s a group scene that I very much enjoyed, and we get to see more of Griffin and how his relationship with the rest of the group evolves. We also get answers to Zian’s past, and Riva and Jacob's relationship evolves as well.
I hope in the next book things get better for the characters, but I doubt it since it’s the fourth book and there’s still one more book to be released. Goodness, I swear they all better get their happy endings, even the young shadowbloods. And I hope we hear more about the monsters/shadowkind because we get told some information about them in this book, but I’m not sure I believe it. Now, onto the next book.

Now everyone know I love Eva Chase. She is my go to Author for great quick read with a great storyline.
I’m gaping at him again, wishing I had Zian’s X-ray vision so I could peer inside his skull in case I might find a little gremlin sitting at a set of controls where his brain should be. “A fresh start? What the fuck are you talking about?”
Her books are more teen/Young adult and have a small amount of spice.
Then he’s cupping my jaw and pulling my mouth to his, and there’s no part of me that can resist the kiss.
This book no.3 in the series and I waited for the audio to come out before I read it. It didnt disappoint at all. I loved it! Im so invested in Riva and her Harem of Shadow bloods.
“I love you so much, Riva. If I could make sure no one ever fired another bullet at you to begin with, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do.”
I hope they work out how to get out of the facility and to freedom.
I love the boys the series. Eva doesn’t make enemies to lovers hard to read.
Most of time she writes beautiful love stories where the men all ban together to help the main Female. But this one was different. She made them al hate the main mc at the start. But it was a comfortable enemies to lovers.
He clutches me to him, mumbling a litany of devotion by my ear. “Riva. Love you. Love you. Moonbeam.”
I always highly recommend anything by Eva Chase!

The book ended on a cliffhanger! I need to know what happened! need to know they are alive!
OK, back to the book. I was totally engrossed in the world! It's very weird going from having the guys around together all the time to just getting one or two in this scene or that scene. I missed them, so I can only imagine our heroine feelings. But that does not mean they missed their chance for some steamy time. And that aspect of their relationship grows as they try and include Z in the more physical part. Boy, they did a great job, a hot steamy moment I'm gonna remember.
Oh, and Giffin, so sorry but also happy. sorry for what they did to him and how it was used to harm the dynamic of the six. I'm happy he is alive and making them six. he also gets some steamy bits.
it's a great book, showing how Reeves continues to grow in her power and acceptance of her monstrous power. They all grow in power, and we see it in all of them. We also meet the next generation of shadowblood kids, some interesting powers, and more family for the six to get to know.
We have a new head bad guy, but there are indicators he's not the head, and there are more out there that could be worse.
Shadowkind, none in this book. I'm left wondering what happened to them, Rolick? is he OK? What happened?
in the end, like their journey, the book is a jumble of questions and exploration, and all you can do is hang on for the ride as they try to find a good way through it all. What a fun ride it was me ❤️

Captured Fate by Eva Chase is an urban fantasy romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Amber Lee Connors and Adam Gold. This is the third book in the Shadowblood Souls series.
I am absolutely loving this series! I can't help but binge the audiobook in one sitting. I am really enjoying the relationship between Riva, Jacob, Zian, Andreas, Griffin and Dominic. It is extremely messy and complicated, but I can't help but root for them. I can't wait to see how it will continue to progress over the course of the series. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
The book ended on another amazing cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait to jump into the next book in the series Heartless Foe.
Amber and Adam did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this series if you're looking for an urban fantasy romances, why choose romances, or romantic suspense.

This one’s a rollercoaster in the best way!
It just keeps getting better and better! I love this series so much.
Riva’s relationship with her guys continues to develop, and now there are more shadowbloods thrown into the mix. The more the merrier! I’m loving the characters more and more as we learn more about them and they become more complex.
The bad guys are still bad, duh, but this book took some turns I did not anticipate. It kept me on my toes!
This book has all of the delicious angst, pining, drama, and action that the first two books in the series had, but the tension and the stakes are even higher. It’s so good! There’s more fighting/gore in this one so brace yourself if you’re squeamish.
We are once again hit with a gnarly cliffhanger (ahhhhhhh that ending!!!), but holy crap am I excited for book 4!! I can’t get enough of this series!!

I like Riva and the initial plot line but it’s starting to get a bit repetitive. It’s the same story but different leader of the bad guys. I was getting excited when they escaped to see what that might lead to but they were just recaptured. And then the exact same thing happened again at the end of the book. It makes me question their abilities since they keep being recaptured. Dom, Drey and Griffin should have a bit of combat training since they seem pretty useless when it comes down to it.
I’m glad we got some answers for Griffin, I thought surely they’re not going to welcome him back after not trying to get to them for so long. I think it would of been more impactful if he started getting his emotions back from interactions with his twin, Jacob, instead.

FINALLY got the gang all back together!
Just wish our lil bbs could get some fkn peace and quiet for a little bit! Gahd dayum.
It is isnt one thing its another! These fkn guardians are relentless man.
Finally got a lil more spicy 😍😍 loved that - cant wait for all five of the men to get their shot (TWO MORE TO GO)
So fast paced - everything kept happing one after another with like ZERO breaks.
That ending is gunna send me into hysterics if Dom or ANY of the men get hurt or worse. I swear if all six of them dont end up together at the end of all this, totally in love and completely happy, IM GUNNA RIOT. They have all been through WAY too much shit to not have that.

Captured Fate just keeps the momentum going — this series truly gets better and better! I’m loving how Riva’s relationships with her guys continue to grow and deepen; it feels natural and emotionally satisfying to watch them evolve together.
There’s also a fun new twist with more shadowbloods joining the mix — the more, the merrier, right? Each character keeps becoming more complex as the series goes on, and I find myself getting more attached with every book.
If you’ve been enjoying the earlier installments, this one definitely delivers on that same mix of danger, emotion, and connection. It’s another solid entry that leaves me excited to see where things go next!

This is a bit repetitive. Remember book two? Well reinvent that, but change the bad guy and give them a slightly different living situation and you’re pretty close.
There is another cliff hanger, though not a desperate, I need to grab the next book immediately kind of one.

after the last books ending, i’m a little disappointed with where this one went tbh. i’m kinda disappointed. i know the storyline revolves around the group being in captivity but fuck. i cannot stand to read about them getting captured every single time they escape. i’m just so bored of it tbh. i genuinely only keep reading for the characters.

The amount of times these supernatural/human hybrids have been captured and escaped is ridiculous at this point. It’s no long intriguing, exciting or surprising at all. It is exhausting, frustrating and laughable how easily they get captured. I read a review before reading this book complaining of something similar and thought that it had to be an exaggeration. Let me be clear. It was not. They have attempted or succeeded at escaping the guardians 4 times and been recaptured 5 times (once while trying to break out others when they were already free). This is simply exhausting and not good writing. It is so boring at this point that I don’t even care to continue reading. I also hate time jumps and there are so many in this series that jump over interesting or important bits but then we experience in full slow detail repetitive unimportant things. It makes no sense. If you have all of that power but you get recaptured this many times, I don’t even have the desire to know if you eventually get your HEA.
I would also like to point out that it was incredibly obvious from the beginning that Griffin was alive. This was supposed to be the big twist but so far nothing has happened that has shocked or surprised me. Disappointing series so far and this book could have been completely removed and nothing would have mattered. They start and end with them recaptured by the guardians. The only difference is Griffin is starting to gain back his emotions and the first gen’s trust. Not worth a whole lackluster book to explore.
I would also like to point out that it was incredibly obvious from the beginning that Griffin was alive. LOOK, I have been REALLY trying to keep at this series but I think I am going to pause here for awhile (potentially abandon...?).
The story is getting annoyingly repetitive. They are either always running, or always captured. I was really hoping for a bit more relationship building (like SOME kinda respite, with ALL of them together, we got a dash of that in Book 2, which was great but it was like... I want more of that). I have more questions then answers and the big bad people always changing has just been like emotional whiplash.
Really really wanted to like this series since it was giving me 'Bonds that Tie' vibes initially... But it's just getting way to repetitive. You can only read SO MANY TIMEs about them escaping and running haha!
