Embracing Your Freedom: A Personal Experience of God's Heart for Justice
While our culture places great emphasis on comfort, security, control, and success, there are deeper rewards for those who take hold of God’s promises and reach out in the Name of Christ. Author and speaker Susie Larson calls readers to look beyond their self-focused lives and embrace their freedom in Christ so they may bring that same freedom to those who need it. Journey with Susie as she shares her own challenges in seeking justice and finding the deeper rewards that await those who "take hold of God's promises and reach out in Jesus' name".
In this empowering book, Susie shares stories of women, who with help from the International Justice Mission, have embraced their freedom and become champions for others in need. Readers will be called to no longer be held captive by their pasts and to seek the freedom and justice only God can give.
While reading this book, I felt Larson was speaking directly to me, encouraging me to let go of the things that have held my heart captive, so that I may become the person He created me to be.
You will be forever touched and forever changed by Embracing Your Freedom!

One of my all time favorite books. I've read it twice, used the prayers at the end of each chapter in my prayer time and I want to read it again and do a Bible study with the gals!

MY REVIEW:
I requested to review this book because after reading other books by Susie I have come to appreciate and respect her writing. So while I didn't really know what the book was about until I began reading it, I walked away overwhelmed once again by God's amazing love and grace in our lives.
Embracing Your Freedom walks you down a path of getting a better understanding for God's heart for justice and how we can experience His gift of freedom no matter what our circumstances are. I really liked how this book is not just another social justice book - not like that is a bad thing - but it is a book that takes you much deeper than just physical freedom around the world to spiritual freedom in every woman's life - especially the reader. This book will soften your heart toward the plight of many who suffer and encourage you to make the most of the freedom you do have. It goes beyond motivating you to challenging you personally. When a book can take a big picture and connect it to your small part of that picture it means the author has done his/her job. In this case, Susie had done a phenomenal job of writing this book!

I think if you want to know how you can help others and feel a little bit incapable of it, this will encourage you greatly and will let you know that no matter what hardships you have had, you can overcome them and help others as well.
I had this on my to-read list when I didn't really know how I could help much but now I am involved in organizations such as Justice-network.org. I really only read this thinking it would talk more about the work of IJM through a woman's perspective, though there were hardly any stories about their work. I have read all of Gary Haugen's books and so this interested me because Susie Larson is involved in IJM.
This was not a bad book one bit, and throughout it she encourages women. It was filled with scriptures and how God can help you out and how Jesus helped others as well.
If you are just learning about human trafficking and want to know what you can do, this is the book for you. I would have liked it more if I read it when it came out, I think. It was lovely though!
