On Ham Farm, the remnants of the British Army watch as the massive horde approach in the distance. Joining forces with the Smith sisters they face a race against time to fortify the area before the dead attack. Vastly outnumbered, all they can do is pray their training and arsenal of weapons will see them through the coming battle. If they manage to repel the multitudes of rotting zombies, the real war is only just beginning. Inside the castle, the survivors start to take the safety of the impenetrable fortress for granted. Kurt and the family know what needs to be done to survive the zombie apocalypse, but a lazy clique begin to show their cowardice. Refusing to fight, forage or guard the walls, they skulk away and isolate themselves, weakening the defences further. With Craig planning terrible revenge, this selfish act could have deadly consequences for them all.
Soooo annoyed with myself with this one!!! I really wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did and I started this series on book 5. The narrator was sooo good!! I'm kinda ify on starting book one being the narrator is different idk why they do that change narrators in the middle of a series! >insert mad face here< Anyways! The story was action packed with great characters I guess ill be jumping to book 1!!
This is the fifth book in the series and I must say it just keeps getting better and better with each book . The book is centered around the three surviving groups. Kurt and his family and friends in the castle . The military and the smith sisters on the farm and Craig and the rest of the inmates in the prison . All gearing up for a fight that is going to come . Who will survive and who will ultimately die . I absolutely love the characters in this book . The author has really made them into such complex characters . Kurt has grown into such a great leader but he is also a broken man that is in the middle of grieving . But he has the backing of his wife and others that will keep him going . He has to make the hard decisions and when some of the survivors break off he lets them go with a dire warning . You see him struggle with what he has done and what he knows he has to do . Craig and the inmates are well you just want to hate them so badly . They kind of remind me of the saviors from the walking dead . They do what the need to be done to survive . So really they are just surviving the only way they know how . I mean if the author was writing about Craig and the inmates first you would probably like them and the laws that they follow . I probably wouldn't like Craig either way or Hombre there is just something about them that really just makes my skin crawl when I read their stories . The third group is the military and the smith sisters . They are working hard to make sure the hell spawn are dead , trying to find survivors . They are all working hard and they have a bigger part of the plot in this book . You see them scared and you see them kicking ass and finding survivors . There are also some new characters in this installment which just add to all the zombie malay . I couldn't put this one down I started reading in the morning and I was done by late afternoon . The author takes us on such a journey. You will pick the group you want to be in and you will be cheering for them with every zombie they kill . The action is fast paced and the interaction between the characters is sweet sometimes bittersweet . You will cheer and you will shed a tear at the losses . Yes we do have a few losses that will break your heart. I really think that you should add this series to your Halloween reading list. You will not be disappointed . You do have to read the other books to understand what is going on but you will love them . So check them out . They get 5 zombies out of 5 for me
This is the fifth book in this series and each book gets better and better. This book continues to center around the three different groups and how they are surviving during the apocalypse. There's the much loved gang of Kurt and his family plus Braiden and Gloria who have been with them since the beginning of this terrifying journey plus some other compelling characters that have joined this band of survivors. They are still hunkered down at the castle making it safer and getting ready for the battle that is looming. Unfortunately, the castle survivors are now split into two groups. The one side is willing to learn to fight, take out the hellspawn and help with plans to survive and on the other side, we have the whiners and malcontents who just want to sit back, get fed and do nothing to help. I guess we''ll see how that works out for them. The British troops at Thorney Barracks are going out on runs to find survivors and bring them back. They now have the twin sisters Max and Angela who can definitely look after themselves plus help with fighting the dead and aiding in the rescues. The troops find and rescue 16 adults and 30 children but suffer some heartbreaking losses. Then we come to the waste of skin survivors at the prison who have sent a spy to watch the castle and report back. You know while reading this mesmerizing story that there is going to be one huge battle coming . I can hardly wait for the next installment in this awesome series. I highly recommend this series if you love the horror/zombie genre with well defined and compelling characters who will take you on a nonstop emotional roller coaster ride.
Book five in the Hellspawn Series continues the apocalyptic action with the three groups of survivors; Kurt and crew in the castle, the Smith sisters on Ham Farm, and Craig and company in the prison. Each group possess their own story as the plot revolves around them, but all three are seemingly on a collision course. There’s plenty of action although the story focuses more on the characters than the zombies. I’m not a fan of the British accent, but the narrator does an excellent job of delivering the goods. Three.point.five for flavor. This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.
Once again, Mr. Fleet has managed to hold us spellbound with his writings. This book is amazing and still leaves me wanting more. I'm ready for the next one! Congrats on another 5 star hit. :)
I enjoyed this book The nightmarish world of Hellspawn continues at it’s fast pace ; with characters you care about, both old & new, and those you hate. Fleet takes you to a place where at times, the evilness of humans out weighs the horror of zombies. A must read
As usual Mr Fleet has produced a fabulous book, jam packed full of excitement and Zombies. I feel he writes the most gruesome zombies I've read and hope he continues to gross his readers out. The story continues to show the pitfalls of human emotions and actions, as we see more of the negative sides of human nature. But I feel this is brilliantly evened out by one fabulous character, Winston!! The storyline is escalating and I for one can't wait for what is shaping up to be numerous epic showdowns!!! Please do t make us wait too long for the next instalment
