Homicide Miami: The Millionaire Killers

IT BEGAN WITH A DISAPPEARANCE

On a balmy May night in Miami, Frank Griga and his girlfriend, Krisztina Furton, vanished from the face of the earth. Frank had made a fortune in the adult hotline business and had met Krisztina, an exotic dancer, while searching for models for his advertisements. Three weeks later, their torsos were found inside metal drums sunk in a murky canal.

IT ENDED IN MURDER

So began the unraveling of the most diabolical death-for-dollars plot in history. All evidence led investigators to Miami’s Sun Gym—a Mecca for serious bodybuilders. The gym’s owner, two muscle-bound managers, and a steroid-crazed personal trainer were the ringleaders of a gang that targeted wealthy Floridians for kidnapping, extortion, and death. This is the story of how a band of brutal thugs planned to make a fortune from fear and blood—and how the quick actions of the authorities stopped the gang before any more innocents were killed.

Well-written true crime about a group of guys that were tied together through a fitness business in Miami and decided they could get rich by torturing wealthy people until they signed all their assets over to them and then killing them. They may have gotten away with it for a longer time if one of their victims hadn't lived to tell about it. And yet there is a plot twist where the police didn't believe this person and so more people died. It is unbelievable what these men did to their victims and not for the faint of heart.

It’s always a welcome surprise to find a well written true crime from an author I hadn’t read before, and this book as certainly that. There was a terrible kidnapping and month long torture of one man to steal all his assets. This was followed by the murder of two people that was just horrific. The cruelty these men were capable of is astounding. It has me still shaking my head a day after finishing it. Good read if true crime is your genre.

Absolutely fascinating! I truly hadn't heard about this case until I read the book. The author spared no detail going over the murders, and kept a rather confusing case relatively easy to follow. Great read for true crime lovers!

It was so good. I couldn't put it down. Also what a sick world we live in that people could do this to other people.

I love true crimes, and this book was exactly what I was looking for. I was familiar with the story prior to reading the book, so the gruesome details of the case were not as jarring to me as they may be for a first time reader. All in all, the story line was intriguing and the case explanations were interesting. The author did a good job balancing the boring details with the action. It was hard to put the book down.

Amazed at what horrors some people can manage when greed enters the picture.
This book truly makes me sad to live in such world, knowing how easy it was for this to happen to innocent people.
