New Day Diva #1

She Who Finds A Husband

Rate this book
What was the pastor of New Day Temple of Faith thinking when he approved the creation of the New Day Singles Ministry? Better yet, what were its members thinking when they joined?

Doreen, lovingly known as the Church Mother of New Day, thought that when she presented the idea of the ministry to the pastor, it could serve as a foundation to empower, encourage, and enlighten the church’s single members. But when only women join and Doreen learns that all these women want only one thing out of the ministry—help in finding a man—her mission goes astray.

She Who Finds a Husband is what you get when you combine some D ivine, some I ndependent, some V irtuous, some A nimated, and some S toic personalities all in one setting—DIVAS! Dig into this soap opera in print as the women of New Day Temple of Faith Singles Ministry set flight to include a man in their future, not realizing that their past is what’s keeping them bound.

A Mess

In SHE WHO FINDS A HUSBAND written by E.N. Joy readers are introduced to members of New Day Temple of Faith Church Singles Ministry. Mother Doreen, the loving, wise Christian mother that she is, tries to help the single sisters in the church as they dwell on their past relationships.

Sister Tamara, Sister Paige and Sister Deborah are all basically singing the same hymn. Sister Tamara is bitter about her ex. She has unresolved issues with her family. And while she’s been forthcoming with being a divorcee, she hasn’t exactly been honest about all of the details surrounding her marriage. Will Sister Tamara unlock the past?

Sister Paige is hard at work dating in hopes of finding the one. A serial dater, she quickly finds a flaw and is off to the next candidate without any hope of a reprieve. When she finds what appears to be Mr. Right, a secret could be what keeps them apart.

Sister Deborah has shown herself approved. When the church doors open, she’s there. If she can witness to anyone, she’s there. Unfortunately at alter call, Sister Deborah has refused to lay her burden’s down. Is there forgiveness in her future?

SHE WHO FINDS A HUSBAND was just an okay read. Truthfully, I found myself very caught up in the scriptures, but at the same time perturbed with the shenanigans of the church people. I understand that every story needs conflict, but it just felt as if some of the ’drama’ was unnecessary.

The editing is horrible. In one chapter, it ends. The sentence is incomplete and when you turn the page, it’s a whole new chapter. At this point it’s mindless to keep repeating that URBAN needs to pride themselves on using quality editors. Funny, one of the characters was an editor. Perhaps Carl Weber should give Sister Deborah a call!

I've read the book called She Who Finds A Husband now I'm thinking its about a woman that is out looking for a husband with that being said as I'm reading the book I've realized a lot of these women had to learn how to forgive and have their stronger than ever! The title comes from the bible scripture He Who Finds A Wife is a good thing! This book has shown me how to forgive people even when they have done things wrong especially to me. People make mistakes every day but we have to ask God to forgive us! The Bible says in order to forgive someone you have to forgive yourself! Have A Blessed Day Readers xoxo

Well now all I have to say right now is bless the name of the lord. This book literally had to reaching out giving God praise and worship. I had been asking God to do something for me that he knew was still pressing my heart....I tell you when Deborah received her miracle in church towards the end of the book, praise God so did I. I didn't realize that I had been reaching out until I notice my face and collar of my gown was wet. I felt so good and light after I got myself together. God is a miracle worker and it got me through reading this book. I have to purchase the rest of the series, I believe it's 3 more books. I have to see what happens to Mother Doreen, Deborah, Tamarra, Helen, and the rest of the crew. I am expecting God to show up and show out in each of their lives. You need to start the series today.....this is book #1. Be blessed, see you at the end...no telling what God is going to do through and for us while we are reading....I am expecting God all along the way.

E N Joy is truly a writer who loves the word of God and lives by it. When reading She Who Finds a Husband you rediscover many stereotypes the church displays to their congregation. Many of us who have grown up with certain beliefs know that the church is where you go for salvation and refuge not for man seeking. The woman in this church simply wanted a strong biblical man to love and some just wanted a man. This story had a hilarious tale that I enjoyed reading and being about to relate so many situations and remarks. I too have heard my family members or associates state phrases in the church that clearly screamed I want a man. I feel that some readers would enjoy this light read. I do feel that it needed more of a climax and more suspense to keep my full attention. I do however feel the entire series will be great for E N Joy

New Day Temple has started a singles ministry which is ran by Mother Doreen with the help from Deborah who is hiding a great big secret which she never intends to anyone not even God until the one person that knows her secret shows up at New Day. We also are introduced to Paige and Tamarra who also are single ladies searching for husbands.

This is the first book that starts the Diva series and each one of the ladies are battling with their own demons in their lives which is hindering their quest to find a husband. I enjoyed this New Day Divas novel and look forward to reading more about these Divas. My favorite character was Mother Doreen I was happy when she finally stepped up and let God use her.

I absolutely loved Deborah’s story the most, but the most touching was definitely Tamara’s testimony and her mom finally accepting what happened to her own daughter. Very tragic but most of all touching. Encourages forgiving heavily. Did not like the ending, Lorain is already being judged by Deborah.

Single and Saved

I enjoyed this book. It was relatable and not over the top religious. The characters are everyday people facing everyday issues. People don't often talk about how things are for single people who are trying to live a saved life. EyeCU Approved & Recommended .

There are some passages that I found hilarious and overdrawn views from some DIVAS, sisters in Christ, especially on dating aggressively and even open up wanting the New Singles Group with Pastor Deborah to have men join the meetings, not just women. Regardless of stressing Pastor Deborah was old-school as far as courting vs. dating perspectives, I would not want to meet any DIVAS like this in my lifetime. If I do, pray and love from a distance. Some were so dramatic, stoic, and scared to meet some sistahs like this for real especially their views on dating in the church. However, there are many women who act or think like this in the church of which is so sad. I pray we get it right before Jesus returns.

There were some valid, solid points that were also addressed in the book to recognize true love versus dating many men to find one; no longer a babe in Christ and to love God and surrender over to his ways versus only intentions are to find a good man; be careful what you ask for even from God; and other biblical standpoints elaborated in the book.

*I was surprised to see minor grammatical errors by the Senior-in-Chief (editor) with Urban Christian books such as p. 56 "The Lord is my Shepard" then on p.57 reiterated again with the correct spelling of "Shepherd" and p. 79 "I commune with God daily and am constantly..." Gregg Reference Manual would not approve of 'am' in this sentence or 'is' after and, but since this is dialogue; there are some passages that can be grammatically incorrect since not everyone speaks politically correct.

It was a good Christian fiction novel, by E.N. Joy, whose work I've always enjoyed (no pun intended) LOL. This book came right on time! The author does a great job highlighting the struggles single Christian women face as they wait on God to provide them with husbands. However, she also highlighted issues that are prevalent in many Christian churches--issues that often leave non-believers with a feeling that many Christians are hypocrites or phony (which many of us definitely are). I liked the way the author presented these issues without seeming "preachy" with a fast-paced story, hilarious dialogue, and lots of fun characters.

Definitely a good Christian fiction novel that is worth the time to read it.

VERY REFRESHING!

Very refreshing indeed! This story of Paige, Deborah, Tamarra, Mother Doreen, and the infamous Pastor was a tale of perseverance! They all had their own demons to face but somehow one or the other aided in the strength they needed to slay their demons. I would have like the Pastor to have played more of an active role in the lives of the saints (not overbearing, but nonetheless active). Mother Doreen is simply the best and I pray she show up at my church (the old mothers of the church has sadly died and no one has thought to step into her shoes)!
I neglected to mention that this is the first novel I've read by this author (and this is the first time ever reading in this genre) and I have plans to read more! Bravo Author E.N. Joy!!!

New Day Temple of Faith has given the green light for a Singles Ministry, headed up by Mother Doreen. Many of these women are only concerned with one thing…finding a man who will later become a husband. What many of them don't realize is…the very thing that they're looking for may be staring them right in the face. These women each begin to face their underlying issues and begin to deal with them.

I really enjoyed this book by @blessedselling_author_enjoy and highly recommend it to all single women in the beginning stages of a relationship, paying for a relationship, or has been in a relationship for years. We can all learn something new and refreshing from this book.

Great book. I know I say that about all the books I read. If you are a single women you have to read this book. For me it was an eye opener to things that God has already been revealing to me over the past few months. Single you may be and you pray for something, but then you have to ensure that you get out of Gods way so that he may bless you with what you asked for. Don't be so stuck on waiting for the word that you miss the obvious in front of you. Be specific about what you pray for and do your part while God is preparing your mate for you.

My book club selected this book as our November book choice. We look for books that give "purpose" to our lives and feeds our spirit. This book definitely feeds the spirit. I enjoyed the messages in this book, and how allowing God to lead your path of forgiveness truly is a blessing to yourself as well as others. Being a Christians doesn't make us perfect, but keeping God in every area of our lives will certainly make our journey easier to bear. I am on to the next book in the series.

This was a re read for a current book discussion, and it was just as great as the first time I read it. New Day Church starts a single ministry headed by the marvelous Mother Doreen, and let's just say, some of the sisters get out of hand. I love EN Joy's novels and stories, and The Diva series are excellent.
