As I child, I went to a small school where my library teacher was a very cool lady. She used to have an assortment of audio books that we could lend out. This book in particular was a favourite of mine. For weeks and weeks on end, my library teacher let me lend this out, barely ever bringing it back for about three years.
I have just located a second hand copy on eBay in book format and I can't wait to read it.
Best story ever!!
Another from the scholastic pile. It's a bit shit really. The story itself isn't notably bad, but the trumpalar fantasy world is so vague and crappy, the transportation mechanism between the worlds is like really bad Narnia, and the children say "tired turtles" as an exclamation. Maybe I would have been into it if I'd read it when I was 7 but that boat has sailed.
