Successful parenting is not a matter of collecting lots of techniques and methods. It starts with the right point of view, which can be summarized simply: Children do not know how to run their own lives competently. You are the parent. Your job is to manage their lives competently. If they don't agree with the way you are managing, well, that's too bad. Parenting and popularity are not synonymous. There are some problematic parts, which I'll include below my notes.
… the only consequences worth delivering are big ones, ones that constitute a huge wake-up call, ones that instill permanent memories. Anything less is a waste of everyone’s time.If child won't keep room clean, clean it to your standard and show child. Tell child if room falls below that standard, you'll clean it again and remove door. If child keeps room clean for a week, they'll get door back.
