Rate this book
7Unique, spectacular and award-winning pictures7Andy Rouse is one of the world's top wildlife photographers and a best-selling author7High-quality reproductions in a desirable gift formatAmong the most appealing and extraordinary of all the world's wildlife, penguins lead a remarkable life swimming, fishing, breeding and surviving in the most inhospitable conditions on earth. Acclaimed photographer Andy Rouse photographs the 'forgotten' penguins; the gentoos, chinstraps, rockhoppers and king penguins that are in fact the most populous varieties and often the most interesting to observe. Captured here are the fun and antics that are such a large part of a penguin's world; the surfing, sliding and iceburg escapades. Andy Rouse has photographed penguins over a number of years, culminating in this powerful, poignant, amusing and amazing record of penguin life.

The photography is stunning! That alone makes this a five-star book. We didn't read all the captions, so I can't speak to the text, but what we did read was informative and interesting. This was so fun to page through, our exclamations of awe and admiration abundant. We love penguins the way we love sloths. :-D

With Andy Rouse's breathtaking photographs, this book is wonderful for those animal-loving students. There are facts on each page, giving information on the photos. Rouse knew exactly how to capture the life of a penguin. This book is sure to have children fascinated and wanting to learn more about these amazing creatures.

This is a picture book with fantastic pictures of several types of Penguins. Each picture has a sentence or two write-up pertaining to it, but not especially clear & well written. Not sure who did the writing, perhaps Tracey Rich? At any rate, Andy Rouse is credited with the photos & that's what makes this book worth checking out.

The captions of these photos aren't always long, but they're very informative. The photography is stellar, and coupled with the tidbits of penguin knowledge, this book is really a great read.

The photography in this book is excellent. Since I work with children I need to make a side note that there is a photo of penguins mating on page 113.
