Sir Peter Paul Rubens was a prominent painter of the sixteenth century and his work foreshadowed the artistic efforts of the Baroque period, which became so popular in Europe. He also married twice and had several children, who were the joys of his life.

Rubens’ nudes are unsurpassed. Skin and musculature caress the canvas with color, light and shadow. His work is alive with movement, too. There are very few calm moments in Rubens’ paintings and this lovely book showcases some of his most memorable works.
