The story of the first Christmas is a favorite with Christians worldwide. And it isn't just a holiday story. The Nativity story is taught at vacation Bible schools, Sunday schools, and in Christian homes all year. Packed with beautiful illustrations, this title is perfect for kids who are starting to read on their own!
Jean M. Malone is an author, librarian, and former zoo volunteer. She lives in middle Tennessee with her husband and spends her free time being herded by a very naughty Australian cattle dog.
My children love these little books. They thoroughly enjoy each and every story, as if they are all unique and individual without any cause for similarity among them. Even though sometimes, they might seem tedious and repetitive to me as a parent, I do enjoy being able to read short-stories to my children that are clean and respective.

My Review: This book contains the classic nativity story that is taught in Christian churches and homes. I think it does a great job of simplifying the story but for a level 2 early reader it should have been shortened quite a bit more, maybe leave out the conception and make that a separate book as the young readers will loose interest with so much text on the page. Thankfully with it being such a well known story it will be easy for young readers to figure out words as they will have most likely heard the story before.
I have to admit that I am somewhat prejudiced in my opinion of this book. The author is my daughter. But that said, it is charming re-telling of the Christmas story coupled with precious artwork. It is a perfect complement to her other book, The Miracle of Easter, a re-telling of the Easter story with artwork by the same artist. It is a wonderful book for that special child.
I think that this book is kid-friendly and appealing and interesting to kids. It is a wonderful book to have and read to kids so that they know the meaning of Christmas.
