Yes I most definitely have this book under the wrong book shelf but until I can figure out a better niche for it than I will be stuck with it. All in all this book promised so much but ended up falling flat on its face. The best summary that I can give for this book is Ripley Wannabee.

First of all there was no clear organization for the reader and although there was an index where the reader may be able to look up a clear subject it wasn't since you could just open up to a certain subject that you may be interested in. As a result you may be reading about ghosts one minute, aliens the next, something Fortean after that and some type of cryptids before doing a random jump back to any one of the above.

Besides that random facts were thrown into the mix that didn't relate at all to any of the subjects such as how much times a lion was caught breeding in 55 hours (so didn't want to know). Furthermore most of these were broken up by a small Freaky Facts page that was supposed to be focused on one particular group but such as the one for animals also covered weather and other non-animal subjects.

The other thing that agitated me was more than likely due to its disorganization as well as there were some subjects discussed more than once such as Marilyn Monroe's ghost. If I had to read about her once than maybe the author could have chosen to make either a chapter on her or to have described all incidents in the one section.

All in all it was decent if you like this type of thing but I didn't find it scary and there are so many others who give the information in a better presentation style than can be found in this book.

One of my favorite presents since elementary school and still pick it up yearly for the weird stories and facts. Used a couple at state impromptu competitions, and were some of my favorites to use in supporting unique arguments.

This book has been on my shelf, half-read for YEARS! I figured October was a fitting time to finally finish it, and I'm glad I did.

A very good book full of interesting facts. Although I've placed it under history, there are facts about science, sports, and many other topics.

This book has been laying around my house for quite some time with a bookmark in it that moved very slowly from front to back. It is the perfect type of book to have laying about. Most of it can be read in very small snippets of time.

It is jam packed with interesting information to stir the imagination. It is by no means a literary masterpiece. It is a very cool book to have around, even after it has been read once through.

Are you in between books? Are you having trouble coming up with what to read next? Pick up a copy of THIS book! It's a surprisingly quick read for being over 500 pages long, because of it's level of entertainment. It has paranormal stories, stupid criminal stories, strange facts, animal tales, you name it. The one thing I found that I did not like was the mere fact that I knew a lot of the information already (mostly the paranormal stuff) but I didn't find it any less a good book to read.

I love this book. I have been looking for something in the book that I read and now I can't find. I talk about the meaning of the word Draco in I think China. If you can help me, then let me know please. I love this book so much that I made a list of places I want to go the were talk about in the book.

A fun little collection of paranormal legends. All the well-known classics are here (the vanishing hitchhiker, the Loch Ness monster), as well as some you may never had heard before (Goatman...really?!?). Definitely recommended for anyone looking for some great campfire stories!

Nice, short little sections, great for when you need a quick page or 3 to go through. Just like the Bathroom books.
