The Perfect Baby

Lucy's new baby brother, William, is noisy and smelly, so Lucy insists he is returned to the hospital. She'd like to try another—less annoying—baby brother instead. But after trying a succession of babies from the New Baby Department, who turn out to be too boring, too hairy, and even too scary, it dawns on Lucy that maybe baby William wasn't so bad after all. In fact, he's perfect—as far as babies go, anyway!

Fun idea, fun beginning/ending, but the middle part was bleh and boring.

What I expected from the blurb on the back: A little girl gets a little baby brother, doesn't want it and goes to do a swap. This to me sounded like the parents wouldn't be involved, like the parents didn't know. Like the girl secretly takes her brother and takes him back.

However what I did get was some absurd story of a girl whose parents are totally OK with her trading her little baby brother like it doesn't matter. And then we get all sort of animals (yes, animal babies, not even human babies), and you can just guess how that ends. Once is fun, twice is OK, but after the third time I was wondering why the parents still went along with it. If it was my kid, and my daughter had a problem, she would just have to live with it.

And that was also another problem, I don't really get why the parents didn't do or say anything but just let their kid do all that?

The art was pretty decent.

The ending was, as expected, cliché, but I was still liking it. Happy that it ended like this.

I think the book is quite funny.
When Lucy’s parents come home from the hospital with a new baby , They were delighted and excited, But Lucy was NOT impressed. Her new baby brother William didn’t do much . He will always Make disgusting noises and smells , Sleep , eat , cry , and sleep again . Lucy’s parents ask Lucy about Baby William . Lucy said that she wanted to take him back to the hospital. Her Parents agreed . So they went to the ‘ New Baby Department’ to trade baby William for another one . The first one was a baby tortoise . Next was a Baby Baboon Next was a Elephant . The other one were too long , too many legs , too tall , too hairy , and to SCARY . So Lucy wanted to take back the first one , BABY WILLIAM . Her parent were so happy and delighted . We really enjoyed how the hospital helped the big sister figure out that their baby was sometimes boring, smelly & loud but he was perfect for their family.
