I want to say that as a big fan of Ant and Dec I couldn't wait to read this however its sat in my kindle for years and the autobiography is now a good few years old and obviously doesn't included the latest goings on. Shame on me as I enjoyed every page of it.
These two are such a big part of British TV culture and I felt like I was on memory lane. From the Grove to Let's Get Ready to Rhumble, to Pop Idol to Saturday Night Takeaway, this book covered it all.
I really liked how it was written. Dec in Ariel, Ant in italics. It was like being involved in a conversation between the two of them.
These guys are solid, loved the book, their friendship, their lows, their highs.
This book is perfect for anyone who grew up with these two guys from Newcastle. I for one am looking forward to growing older with these two around.

AHHHHH! I FREAKING LOVE ANT & DEC!
Now that that's out of my system...
Ant & Dec (formally known as Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly) wrote this autobiography in 2009 to commemorate 20 years together in showbiz and friendship. (Yes, friendship. My mother's already asked twice, and no, they're not gay. :P)
I think what Dec said in an interview on This Morning sums up the core of their relationship pretty well: "...All of our success, and everything that's ever happened to us, has been a byproduct of this amazing friendship that the two of us have, that everything that's happened to us has been because of our friendship. We haven't got a friendship because of our career or because of anything else. It's always been our friendship that's come first."
This is the best and most entertaining autobiography I've ever read, I think. And the most unconventionally written, as it read like these two were sitting in the same room having a conversation about all the wonderful and ridiculous things that have happened to them. Ant's parts in italics, and Dec's in bold.
If you're an American, you most likely have no idea who Ant and Dec are. I, myself, had no idea till several months ago. Before then, if anyone had mentioned them to me I probably would have said, "Anton who?" But if you're British, chances are you are well aware of who this lovable duo is.
The first time I saw Ant & Dec, to my knowledge, was years ago when I watched Susan Boyle's audition for Britain's Got Talent. I think everyone saw that video once, at least. Even then, I don't remember seeing them; only in retrospect I realize I must've seen them, unless I was badly fortuitous in my choices of when to blink. (Ant & Dec present BGT, you see: they're the two adorable Geordie lads backstage.) But Britain's Got Talent is hardly what Ant & Dec are known for. It's just one of the many shows they present/have presented. Over the years, they've done everything from being pop stars, to interviewing Royalty, to making celebrities eat kangaroo unmentionables in the Australian jungle. And that's hardly the tip of the iceberg.
Almost two years after my sole watching of a BGT video, thanks to an online British friend (who I will love forever! <3), I started watching SM:TV Live, the wonderfully inappropriate children's telly show Ant & Dec presented with Cat Deeley from 1998-2001. Before I knew what was happening, I became and Ant & Dec fan of massive proportions. Anything they're in, I will watch gladly (which is quite a lot as their careers have been extremely prodigious). Whether they're talking informally or following an autocue, their lovely personalities and friendship shines through; and no matter what, they always make me smile. My family has learned that if they walk past me while I'm on my laptop and I'm grinning like a loon, chances are I'm watching something Ant & Dec related. My love for them is only rivaled by that I have for The Beatles.
What emotions did experience as this book came to a close? Genuine sadness. I liked carrying these two around with me; I could open the book at any time and have a laugh. (And get weird looks from my family, but that's okay...)
Now the question is, when can I justify re-reading this?

omg loved it soo much.
i couldnt wait to get my hands on this book and when i did i devowered it. i love ant and dec and have watched them since biker grove and smtv (i think it was called) with wonky donkey :)
i loved that the book had ant in one font and dec in a different type of font, giving both versions of the story before and after they had meet. i found it strange and funny that for how close friends they are now (even living on the same street, with about 1 house inbetween them :D) that when they first meet they didnt realii like each other (at first!). i also loved the pictures of them in the book ranging from baby and childhood ones to more recent ones :P
i watch every show that they do, and am always laughing at there jokes. Ant and Dec were the reason that i started watching 'i'm a celebrity get me out of here' in the first place, though i love the show it would never be the same if ant and dec weren't presenting it.
they are no doubtfully the best double act ever that can still keep people laughing all these years later.
anyone who loves ant and dec should read this book, i did and it made me love them even more (if thats possible, lol).

First of all, what a lovely read!
This is my first autobiography, but to be honest, I think it's not going to get much better than this.
I love how well you get to know these cheeky lads from Newcastle. Reading this book doesn't feel like reading, it feels more like you ran into them in a pub and they decided to tell the story of how they became who (and where) they are today.
The book is brilliantly written and has a very laid-back, 'just having a laugh' feeling. It's like I can imagine them sitting behind the computer with a pint, thinking back and laughing about all the (sometimes embarrassing) adventures they experienced together, Dec writing his parts in bold, Ant in italics.
The book was published in 2009, so the story has not been completed. Personally, I'm really hoping for a part II. After all, they probably have made quite some more memories that were "one for the book".
If you like Ant and Dec's presenting/acting work on the telly, you will definitely love this book. Same attitude, same humour, same lovely pair!

One the best biographies i ever read. It's so hilarious just like ant and dec. So many stories about the duo. If you are a ant and dec fan then this is for you and you'll love it. Even If you are not a fan you'll enjoy it. Read it like 2 times. I laughed so hard in sometime point and laughed throughout. Loved it would be an understatement. won't disappoint .

A really fun look at the career of one of Britain's most loved double acts.
The book reads like a conversation between the pair on tv, plenty of banter between the two as they reminisce and wind each other up the way good friends can. It took a little while to get used to who was writing which part but once it sank in I flew through the book.
I've read complaints that they don't slag off people they've not liked over the years. I just got the impression it isn't Ant & Dec's style and I have huge respect to them for that.
The only (very minor) complaint I have is the length of time they talk about their boozing habits. Yes they're typical lads who enjoy a good time but it did feel like they were hammering that point home at times. Still it didn't stop me enjoying the book a lot and laughing my head off for most of it

An autobiography of a double-act, told by them both in such a way (italics and bold typeface) that makes perfect sense once you get used to it. I have to admit, I didn’t become aware of Ant & Dec until well after Byker Grove but associated them with “Get Ready To Rhumble” for longer than I perhaps should have. They come across well in this, though in playing up their “we’re normal blokes us and like to get drunk”, this tends to gloss over the effort they must have put in to get themselves where they are now – and I, for one, would have rather seen that than their attempts to seem like lucky chancers. Good fun, a good quick read and if you like Ant & Dec, I’d recommend it. If you don’t like or know of them, it’d be no use whatsoever.

I'm not much of an autobiography reader normally, but, like most of the population of the UK, I love Ant and Dec so couldn't resist!
They've led a mostly happy life, so this is an uplifting read with lots of jokes (some a bit corny and dad-like, but that's part of their charm!) and you don't have to worry about it being hard to read, even the bad things that have happened to them they don't really go into too much, such as the death of Ants grandma or the break up of Decs relationship, they cover it but they don't dwell on it.
As I said, I'm not much of a autobiography lover, I'm a fiction girl! So I couldn't give this more than 3 stars really because it didn't have the flow and suspense that fiction can have, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it!

This book was exactly what I thought it would be.
It was funny, cheeky and entertaining.
I love the fact that it was written four handed, almost like a conversation between them. That from start to finish there’s not one point of the book that felt boring to me.
It was interesting to follow their steps from kids to wannabe pop stars, to TV presenters, but to me the most appealing part was to see them create a unique and rare friendship.
This is Ant and Dec, pure and simple. Every tale is filled with jokes and playful banter. Every anecdote is permeated with teasing and little winks to their readers.
I really couldn’t have chosen for a better read.
A must for all Ant and Dec’s fans. And why not? If you like funny books, even for those who aren’t.

I really like Ant and Dec from watching them on TV, so I was keen to read this and learn more about them as I do with any 'famous' person I'm suddenly interested in.
For the most part I really enjoyed this book, it was definitely filled with humor and anecdotes, but what I really appreciated about it was that when they did speak about something that was slightly more serious they did it in a way that didn't make me feel too sad or bring the mood of the book down like I feel a lot of autobiographies do.
The only reason this didn't get 5 stars was because at times it was slightly tedious, and when reading it in large doses I found my mind wandering. I am glad I know more about their lives though, it provided a good insight.

Five star for the laughs
I couldn't help laughing no matter how many times I have read this book.
I grew up watching Ant and Dec and I didn't know they were called PJ and Duncan.
How you would know that which one is Ant and Which one is Dec in the book is by who has the bold and the fine.
But reading this book I did find some bits that were shocking. But at least things did go well.

I've loved the boys since I was 15 (now I'm 35) and my love for them hasn't changed a bit. I loved to read their history from their point of view and in their own hilarious words. I've read other biographys about them, but this one is the best, because I can hear their voices in my head while reading. As always, they make me smile big time.

Always loved Ant and Dec especially because I’m from the North East and of a similar age. Always loved Dec but I found his sections hard to read- over exaggerated no natural flow. While I laughed out loud at Ants parts which made me like him more.

This book came out in 2009...over ten years ago! It must have been given to me brand new and has then just sat on my shelves ever since. I decided this is finally the year that I try and tackle some of my backlist (especially since it is now getting embarrassing)
In this book we follow the story of Ant & Dec (the British TV presenters) from their childhoods to (their) present day (2009). We learn about how difficult it was in the music industry, the various gigs they had to perform and how they finally found their feet in TV presenting.
So this book is difficult to review, it is told in alternating paragraphs from Ant and Dec so you get to hear both sides of their story. I found it really interesting to read about them because I had no idea of the struggles they had faced to get to where they were (and I was always intrigued about where the names PJ and Duncan had come from). I liked the witty banter that was injected into the story and at no point was I bored. The topics were switched around so often so that it never felt as though they were dragging one section out.
However the only downside for me what that this book took so long to read, as I said before there was no part that was specifically boring but I did find it a struggle to read it quickly (some nights getting through just 30 pages). So this was definitely an issue for me but I just can't explain why it was.
Overall I'm not sure I would recommend this book, obviously it is now extremely outdated with 2009 being the last entry but of course this isn't the book's fault. The parts I read I did enjoy so story wise I would recommend but with the caveat that be prepared - the book is very outdated with some references to things that happened in 2009 that I have definitely forgotten. Also be warned - you will be singing Lets Get Ready To Rumble for weeks after finishing this!

So I read this when it came out but only just got GoodReads so I can review it. Well, firstly I just want to say you’re going to have to prepare yourself mentally to read something I write about my beloved geordie boys.
If you are even thinking about reading this slightly, do it. They have had such a beautiful life together and this book is seriously my favourite one ever (with once upon a tyne being the other fave: catch my review on that aswell) They never fail to make me laugh, ugly laugh, happy cry and sad cry and this book really sends you on a spiral of emotions. Honestly I don’t tend to read autobiographies but this is one that I couldn’t put down. You can really capture their personality through a book and I think it’s a wonderful testament to all their achievements in life. So, if anyone is even close to reading this, do it. You will never, ever regret it.

honestly i really enjoyed this book! being back at uni means i haven’t exactly got enough time in the day to read a book a day but the time it took doesn’t reflect what i thought!
i bought this as i have their second book at home and thought i should read the first one before the second and i’m so glad i did. it was really interesting and i learnt so much about ant and dec’s lives that i didn’t think i would! i never realised half of the things they said and it was so fun learning about i’m a celeb behind the scenes!

I have owned this book for probably over a decade and the release of Ant & Decs new book made me think I need to read their first one and I'm so glad I did. It was so genuine and interesting to see where they started out and even on paper they come across as just two normal lads. Loved the way they both have their own input and reflect back over the years. It's made me want to read their new book even more!

I really enjoy this book . I know things has changed since the book came out. With what happened to Ant life . You can see why Dec stood by his friend has they got a great friendship. if they ever do another book I look forward to it has it be picking up where they left off . What you see on the tv is what you get in this book . I been big fan of there since the Byker Grove days .

Great read
Very good, funny. It kind of felt like they were just sitting chatting with you. I recommended it to people before I was even a quarter of the way through it. Of course this book is 11 years old so hopefully they will do another one to catch us up on the rest. A very good read. Love Ant and Dec, they have a beautiful friendship.

Of course this book is 11 years old so hopefully they will do another one to catch us up on the rest. A very good read. Love Ant and Dec, they have a beautiful friendship.

Felt like a change from the usual thrillers and romance books I read. I like Ant and Dec I enjoy Saturday night takeaway. The book is interesting, lots of facts and detail and told in a open honest way. Funny to read now as it’s about ten years old and obviously their lives have massively changed since then but still an interesting insight in to their lives and climb to fame.

Great read. Nice insight in how Ant and Dec met and how they work. Nice format, they each write a paragraph and respond to each other. It reads as if you hear them talk to each other. A great mix of the projects they've worked on and their personal lives.
This book was published in 2009, so there's a lot more story by now. Can't wait to read the upcoming book (sept 2020).

I read this a few years ago, way before the boys’ latest one (Once Upon a Tyne) came out - and loved it. But now I’ve read both, I definitely prefer the newer one.
This doesn’t mean this is bad! If you want to know about the boys first 20 years (compared to the 30 in OUAT) then it’s definitely a read! You learn about the 13 year old, Geordie lads meet; to pranks and off screen antics.

Fantastic Read! This book gives an interesting insight to both their lives from when they were young boys to present day, with lots of humour along the way. Well worth a read! It’s filled with loads of comedy moments and some more serious personal life issues to. It had me laughing though out the whole book. Would definitely recommend any fans of Ant and Decs to read this book xx
