This is a collection of essays first published in 1935. There are chapters on rock gardens, specific bulbs, irises, shrubs, creeping plants. Wilder shares her thoughts, opinions, observations, and advice on plant culture. The book is both informative and entertaining.
I enjoyed the lyrical nature of this book and it inspired me in my own gardening. It's best enjoyed in installments. It's a leisurely read about a leisurely pursuit.
