USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.

Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.

In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,

Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.

Short quickie romances
3 stars

The four stories in this anthology focus on four women who take their favourite stories they've read in their erotic book club in order to seduce the men of their dreams. All stories are written by Stephanie Bond.

BETWEEN THE COVERS
Cassie Godwin still lusts after her ex-boyfriend, Mark Shapiro, who dumped her over 6 months ago. After telling her he 'just wasn't that into her', Cassie is determined to make the man eat his words.

This was a cute story and while both Cassie and Mark were both likeable, I couldn't really get over the fact that Mark had initially dumped Cassie because she wouldn't go to bed with him.

TURNING THE PAGE
Admin assistant, Page Sharpe, has been in love with her boss, Richard Armstrong for 5 years and it's high time she made her move. Taking her cue from Venus in Furs, Page manages to show Richard who is really boss.

If I'm honest, I really couldn't get into this story. I'm happy to read about sexual submission but when mousy Page turned Richard into a pathetic, wimpy man, I just couldn't see why I was supposed to root for the pair.

A NEW CHAPTER
When wild child Wendy Trainer realised she was in love with her best friend, Nate, she needed to plan his seduction. Worried he might not believe her capable of settling down, she invents a pretend boyfriend and asks Nate to help plan the seduction, hoping to make him jealous enough to make his move.

I love stories where best friends fall in love and because of their shared history, this one felt real and complete. Wendy and Nate were perfect for each other and this was definitely the best story of the anthology for me.

SURPRISE ENDING
Jacqueline Mays has always longed to find someone that she could indulge her bondage fantasies with. When she is tasked with auditing the accounts of celebrity chef, Elliot Nicholson, she is sure she's found her man.

This was an okay story that focussed more on spanking than on heavy bondage. I could get behind the way the couple met and interacted but the story was much too short for any real emotion to come through.

With four stories covered in this book, each one only lasts about 50 pages. While this makes them perfect for a quick read, it does take away from the characterisation, back story and emotional connection. Stephanie Bond is still a great storyteller and although it's not her best book, if you're looking for some quick and fun reads then this is a good choice. 3 stars. (This book is followed by the e-book Too Hot to Print and the longer length story Her Sexy Valentine).

Seriously fun premise - book club reads erotic classics and then uses their favorite book for tips on seducing the men of their dreams. I may be mentally editing the author's writing, but I am also enjoying the stories. It's not a bad idea, really - although I may be reading the wrong books. I could break a slate over some guy's head, but first I have to find a slate. I could be at a bookstore buying overpriced books and let Ben Blake come show me how to do it cheaply - but if he didn't show up during grad school, he never will. I could go out dancing and be snubbed by the hot new guy - that's pretty likely! But then I'd have to use my wit to get him anyway, and that's less likely. Hmm. Well, I could go into a store on vacation to buy presents for my family and be charmed by the shopkeeper's nephew. Maybe that should be my goal for Shipshewana next month - it'd totally fit.

Side note to the last story - a whisk? Really? Not smart. I'm guessing these were written to be linked but solo ebooks or something, because the amount of repetition was surprising. Still - fun.

I went to the library to pick up book five of Stephanie Bond's "Body Movers" series, but it was checked out. So I picked up the only other book currently available by Ms. Bond, "Seduction By The Book", just to see if I'd like her other non-series stuff. The answer? Not so much. It sounds like a cute enough premise -- the single, lonely women of the Red Tote Book Club decide to use their favorite romance novel as more or less an instruction book for how to seduce the men they have crushes on. But unfortunately I found both the book and SB's writing to be tedious and predictable.

Here are the problems I had with it...

1) Character development. The book is divided into four parts, one very short section for each woman's story. Because of that, we didn't get to really know these women and I really didn't give a rat's tuckus if they got the men to fall in love with them or not.

2) Ms. Bond must think her readers are idiots as she felt it necessary to re-explain the premise of her book every 50 pages or so. Yes, yes, we get it...single women, book club, favorite book, seduction.

3) Though each woman wanted a different type of sexual relationship with the man of their dreams, it all happened pretty much the same way...The women tease their soon-to-be-lovers and get them worked up so much that each man goes home and jacks off while thinking about her. And then they have sex and fall in love. I must admit though that Ms. Bond really changed it up in the last story by having the book club woman get herself off while thinking about her man instead of the other way around. Oh, and then they have sex and fall in love. *rolling eyes*

Guess I'll finish the "Body Movers" series...but after that, I'm done reading Stephanie Bond.

Seduction By The Book is such a hot steamy read that by the time you turn the last page you'll be ready for a cold shower!

This is 4 stories in a story, each focusing on a particular member of the Red Tote Book Club, a group of women who read and discuss some of the best erotic fiction ever written. But the group leader has plans...She poses the idea that each member should pick their favorite erotic novel and then seduce the man of their dreams drawing inspiration from the book of their choosing.

Each woman finds fulfillment with the lover of their choosing, an ex, a boss, an old friend and one a client. In each story you see the women lose her inhibitions, letting their sexuality take over. The books they chose were Lady Chatterley, Fanny Hill, The Slave and Venus In Furs. If you've never read any erotica, after putting this book down, you'll be headed for the book store or the library to check these books out.

Stephanie Bond tops herself with this one. Her Blaze books are some of the best the line sees and this one is no different. As soon as you finish it, you want her to have another ready. Thankfully there will be two sequels coming shortly in the form of an e-novella in January and a full length sequel in February!

I can't wait!

I've generally enjoyed Stephanie Bond's work for its sass, simmer and smarts. Seduction by the Book is a collection of four stories tied together by an Atlanta public librarian's charge to the members of The Red Tote Book Club to seduce the man of their dreams using methods spelled out in erotic classics: Lady Chatterly's Lover, The Slave, Venus in Furs, and Fanny Hill. One book per member. The women set out to capture an ex, a client, a best friend and a boss. It's classic romance fare but the stories didn't pass my "promise of the premise" test. I had to suspend too much belief in an effort to make the stories plausible. A better example of Stephanie Bond's work is the sultry Too Hot to Sleep.

Ok. This was quite steamy! I will keep this review short because my parents are on Goodreads ;-)

I liked the idea of the Red Tote Book Club, where a group of women gater to discuss erotic fiction. They are all challenged by the leader to use the ideas in the books they read to go out and seduce a man. It is essential four short stories in one book. An easy, quick read. Will read more by Stephanie Bond in the future.

This was a good book about a book club who reads and discusse erotic books/novels and when the leader of the book club comes up with a daring idea for the members to find a book and use it to seduce the man they want and then report if the book helps or hurt it turns out to be a discovery for all involved the women get to find out things about themselves that they never imagined and it has alot of good ends as well would love to see this as a movie.

Nothing like a Stephanie Bond book for excellent writing, a creative premise, AND some serious steam. Seduction by the Book follows members of a book club as they go to the erotic classics to pull off their own seductions. Um, you probably don't want to give this as a Mother's Day gift--unless, of course, it's a gift to yourself.

A funny great fast read has a book club where you can choose your own fantasy naughty book and seduce someone in real life. Funny ways that everything took place and the men were dreamy. Another great book by Stephanie Bond. I have read a lot of her books in the last few months and look forward to more.

I guess it shouldnt be a surprise since its a harlequin, but I was surprised at how romantic this book actually was. It was fun and sweet and has made me want to see what else Ms. Bond has written.
