NiccoI’m still getting used to my freedom. Ten years in prison definitely had an impact on me. Since my exoneration and release, I’ve had my eye on Josh, the musician in Unit G. He’s so damn sexy. I sense that he’s hiding something from everyone. I know a thing or two about secrets. I caught a lucky break when he asked me to be his roommate. I’m moving in today. Who knows? Maybe he'll let his walls down and we can get real with one another. Really real.JoshWhat have I done? In a moment of weakness I agreed to let Nicco move in with me. Yes, I’m very attracted to him, on every level. But I can’t pursue a relationship with him or with anyone. I’ve already taken too many risks. Not only am I going to have to quit my band, I’m going to have to figure out how to deal with Nicco living with me. He can’t know about my past. No one can. If it gets out, I’ll have to leave, which is something I’m too familiar with.
Though starting in straight erotic romance, Kris's total focus now is on gay romance. When asked why recently, his answer was "My muse finally came out of the closet. Isn't it about time? I've been out since I was twenty-five."
A voracious reader, Kris loves many genres of fiction, but this writer's favorite books are romances that are edgy, sexy, with rich characters and unique challenges. Kris' influences include Anne Rice, JR Ward, Lexi Blake and Shayla Black.
Last year, Kris married the love of his life Stephen.

I love this series overall but this story was a bit harder to love. I felt the fact that there was danger on all sides and how this two sides collided seem a bit far fetched. Added to surprise legacy and unrealistic job offers even for a fictional tale it still was really out there. But I did love the care and commitment these two men had for each other and that made the story worth the read.
> > Judging a Book by it's Cover < < This cover is very unlike the other covers in the series. Gone is the cityscape and the blending of it with the lead character(s). It is very subdued. Sedate in color and composition, even the title style differs. The synopsis intrigues, with the promise of getting to know more about the last remaining guys at Mockingbird Place. > > Looking Deeper < < Not only did this book have a different look, but it felt different, too. The writing style and format differed from the others - nothing terrible, but it IS noticeable and, at times, a little concerning. POV ~> Alternating first person POVs, plus occasional first-person POVs from several secondary characters. While Nicco is finally finding his footing as a free man, Josh's freedom is running out. When two violent pasts collide and turn to target their future, will anyone be left to survive?
I liked both Nicco and Josh as lead characters and enjoyed their chemistry together: instant attraction, roommates. Secondary characters included most of Mockingbird Place's residents, even if only by mention. It also included some newer faces from Nicco employer, Josh's "mystery man" and crew, and people from both mens' pasts. The plot was good; solid with dynamics and a smooth, easy flow. There were a few points where I knew where the plot was going, but I did not grasp the full content until it was laid out. Conclusion was solid and satisfying, with a hint of a possibility... will there be a Lawman story next? As a whole, I love this series and feel this was an excellent addition to it. The one thing that worried me is that this book (again, verified purchase and not an ARC copy) was swarming with typos and this is so contrary to the Kris Cook I've read these past few years. . A story of baggage and bad surprises and finding love unexpectedly. Trouble is not far which neither knows what's coming. The characters both have music talents which is a little meh. Fast attraction with a simple kiss and it's all on smoking up car windows lol. The book was great and definitely not a standalone story. Past characters from previous books are included in this. Danger, sexy scenes, secrets and more. Nicco moves in with Josh but was confronted by a Mr Grayson he didn't like.
I was so excited to read about Nicco and Josh story. Their story was truly a adventure well worth waiting for. As always the The Mockingbird Place series books are very well written. Can't wait to see who is next to find true love.
I liked Nicco from when we first met him in Maddox's book and was happy to see that he got his own HEA. It surprised me, at first, that Josh was going to be his partner since I hadn't picked up any hint of them being into each other previously.
We finally found out Josh’s secret and what a secret it is. Nicco finally moves in with Josh and the sparks start to fly fast. There is a little sad in this book but mostly all happy and lots of love. I was very glad that I got to visit the rest of the Mockingbird crew and that everyone is doing just fine. Was very glad to see more of Tony and Stephen and S & M of course. This is a great read and I highly recommend it but the best was to enjoy this book is to start with the first in the series, The Marine In Unit A, to really enjoy the Mockingbird Place .
A story that started out with great potential but ended up overloaded with cliches, debatable timelines, and unnatural conversation (trying to add as much information into the dialogue instead of the narrative). From the hospital onwards eye rolling and eyebrow raising were par for the course.
OH MY STARS....Kris Cook is amazing. I love Mockingbird Place...I do not want these books to end. I love how they feature on one certain couple BUT still incorporate the past characters. Wow.. Love these books. I own these books and I am so waiting for more. Please say their are more?
