This is a short and very emotional story between Acheron and Styxx.

Ash wrapped his arms around his brother and held him for the first time in their lives.

Acheron appears a bit harsh and Styxx looks extremely sorry when he asks for forgiveness and for a chance to get to know his brother.
I still do not know the full story between the two of them, but I really love Acheron and I am sure that he has every reason to be angry with Styxx.

“I thought you said to err is human, to forgive divine.”

Those swirling, silver eyes burned him. “I’m a god, Styxx , not a saint. I do forgive you, but trusting you is another matter. As you said, you shall have to prove yourself to me. Until then, you and I shall take this one step at a time and then we shall see what is to become of us.”

And as soon as those words were spoken, Styxx found himself alone.

I cannot wait to read the books with the full story about Acheron and Styxx!

I was overwhelmed by the time I finished this short story, in a good way, certainly. Thinking about what Acheron had been through made me want to cry all over again. What he did in this book completely proved how selfless he is.

“I can’t undo the past,” Styxx whispered “But in the future, I will gladly lay my life down for you, brother.”

“I don’t ask for your forgiveness I don’t deserve it I only ask for a chance to show you now that I’m not the fool I was once.”

Such a bittersweet moments…

This was very short but great. I really enjoyed it.

I'm glad to see that Ash didn't leave his brother to rot in hell forever. And, the crazy thing is that the version of Styx's hell is simply living out Ash's memories of his life. Another reason to be nervous for Ash's story later...

Second Chances is an Acheron and Styxx short story. With this novella you get a more nuanced picture of Styxx’s and of course Acheron’s personality.

Acheron’s compassion is beyond measure. He gives a second chance to Styxx, but still can’t fully give his trust to him.

It is only ten pages, but really nice and emotional. Recommended!

why the hell is this bastard called Acheron still torturing poor Styxx? Oh hell.. I didn't mean these crappy things about Acheron .. But .. I Just think , that Styxx has suffered enough. . even more than Ash.. And these things Ash did to Styxx aren't right. . At all..

"4.5 stars" Second Chances is a very brief little story about Dark-Hunter leader, Acheron and his “brother,” Styxx, which gave even more fascinating insights into this intriguing and complex character. Once again, Ash shows his deep capacity for caring about others even when they've wronged him. All throughout my reading of this novella, I couldn't help wanting to know more about Ash's past and all that has happened in the long centuries of his life. He is certainly a character that draws me in every time I read about him, a feat very few have accomplished, which leaves me absolutely dying to get to his book, but alas, I still have a long way to go in the Dark-Hunter series to get there. Second Chances was originally published as an exclusive collector's booklet that was given away with Unleash the Night. It can also be found in it's entirety within the pages of The Dark-Hunter Companion and Acheron, as well as be read for free on Sherrilyn Kenyon's website.

A teeny tiny slice of styxx repackaged as second chances. If you haven’t read styxx... take and heed my advice... DO NOT READ THIS! not because it’s not great BUT because of SPOILERS!!!

Beware the spoilers!!! I was sooooo prepared to hate styxx...more fool me...

I adored styxx’s book almost as much as Acheron’s book.

This fab little short gives us some insight into Ash's past. It's heartbreaking that twin brothers can have so much hatred between them & I really hope Styxx means it when he asks for a chance to prove himself

Wow, more insight to acheron's life. When Acheron was human, he had a twin named Styxx. We know that Acheron's human parents had shunned him as he grew up, his own brother Styxx did too and treated him cruely and even tried to kill him.

When Acheron came into his Godly powers, another goddess named Mnimi - the goddess of memorie decided to punish Styxx by putting him into a cell in Hades and letting him relive in his mind Acheron's life and how he was mistreated.

After 3 years, Acheron decides to give his brother a second chance and flashes his brother from hades and into his realm Katoteros so that his brother Styxx could make up for all the wrong he did to him.

We learn some important information about Acheron. To protect Acheron from the wrath of the Atlantean Gods who wanted him dead, Acheron's true mother Appoloemy - The Destroyer, had forced him into a womb of Styxx's mother and then tied their life forces together to protect him.

I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series to find out more about Acheron.

I am reading the Dark-Hunter series according to Maryse recommendation. When I finished Sins of The Night I went right in to the analogy, Second Chances, which is in the Dark-Hunter Insider Guide. In the short story Ach goes to Hades in order to stop his twin brother suffering. Acheron learns quickly that his brother Stixx's wants to accept him and learn to love him. Ach craved to have his family love him most of his life and still craves it but can Stixx be trusted after all the things he has done to Ach in the past. Will they ever bridge that gap between them since they were both destined to share a fate. I dont know, But i hope we find out. I find that the short stories add a little extra details that you don't get in the books within the series.

I noticed that Sherrilyn's lastest book was about Styxx and I had no idea who that could have been since I had not gotten around to reading all the novels in this series. One of my girlfriends who is a fan of this author was raving about her latest novel so I promised myself that I was going to finish this series. Then I came upon this book Second Chances that first introduces me to the fabled Styxx who happens to be Ash's brother. Well that threw me for a loop and now I can't wait to read his story. I am tickled pink with excitement to see what happens next in this world. Onto the next book :)

It's not that the 3 stars are a bad thing. It's just that the story was so short, so there's not very much material to make it a 5-star-best-book-of-my-life-type-book. I really enjoyed it, like I do all of my Dark-Hunter books. It's like a... "for your information" book. Just a little tidbits to get you salivating for more Kenyon.

But Dark-Hunter fans, you already know that all her Dark-Hunter books are awesome. Read the short story and get your fill-in-the-blank-spaces-of-the-continuous-story spot.

Here you get a glimpse into Acheron's human life, and see some interaction with his twin brother Styxx in the current time of the books. From previous books you know Acheron's human life was pretty much shit all around, and in this book you find out his human family was a large part of that. In this extremely short novella, you're introduced to Styxx as a future character in the series and see how it came to be that he's re-entered Acheron's life.

This scene is one that we can find in both Acheron's and Styxx's book. A very good and painful scene that made me cry like every scene between the brother do. This one specially because we, that read both book, know how wrong and mistaken they are about each other. They both suffered a lot. And it causes me so much pain knowing that they love each other and they need each other but that they're always fighting and assuming things that are not true! :'(

I love Acheron & Styxx. <3

Ups...

To think outside your box of happiness, to step in someone's shoes, is hard, let alone that the option doesn't even occur to some people. You build your barriers on your own prejudices and you don't see them for the prison they constitute. Is it a sign of inner strength to create limits for your thougths?

I just figured out that this was online and that i didn't have to wait to read it. I kinda wish I'd read it sooner its nice to see a bit more of that touch of Ash's past even if its only a small story. I hope that as i keep reading that I get to see the two of them starting to bond if only a little.
