Boris the little beast was excited about his lessons in preparation for Boo Day. He could be scary at home, but in class he couldn't even say "boo" because of being nervous. On Boo Day Boris was shy and tried to hide in the pumpkin patch when people came. Cute story and illustrations.

My son was given this book as a gift at some point, and now we pull it out every year in October. L (almost 3) has been particularly interested in this book this season and has requested it a lot. Frankly, I find it a bit tedious. The text doesn't always align well with the pictures on a given page, and it gets a little too wordy/lengthy (which I don't mind in a quality children's book, but this one doesn't feel particularly special). This is cute, but not one of my Halloween favorites.

ETA Fall 2018: S can now read this almost independently.

ETA Fall 2020: This one has grown on me over the years and so I've upped it to 3 stars. This year S said this is actually one of his favorite books in our Halloween collection. Who knew?!

This book doesn't really have a specific concept other than trying to figure out who you are as a person. I think there are other books out there that relate to that theme better than this one. I do think this book would be fun to read around Halloween time to the class.
